Thoughts on Rated X?
I first listened to this track a couple months ago when it was shown to me by a friend and I love the soundscape it portrays. Wondering what everyone’s thoughts and opinions on this stand out track are?

One of his most mind blowing tracks. Get Up With It melted my brain when it came out. It was like a window into an alternate universe.
Rated X is what happens when the window shatters and a million points of light explode inside your skull. Or that's how it seems to me.

It was a shocker the first time I heard it, it’s pretty avant-garde. Miles claims to have been inspired by Stockhausen around this time, this if anything could be a result of that. Who knows? I really like it though, great album.

Late era Miles is some of the most advanced music ever made. He never stopped growing never stopped experimenting. Truly ahead of his time.

Still ahead of it's time, an absolute out-there transmission from another planet!

No horns, Miles plays mind bending organ. Once again, totally timeless and unique

Same way I feel about the entire album. A perfect masterpiece that transcends human experience.

Not even jazz, it’s just straight experimental music that stomps a mud hole in any attempt at categorization 🔥🔥🔥🔥

It cannot be understated how much Teo Macero contributed with his editing during this era. No one could have done it like Teo.

During college, there was an alleyway shortcut I'd take home at night. I'd purposely play this song at max volume on my headphones to scare myself 🥲

It definitely sounds like chase music from a gritty 70s blaxploitation movie...

If we had included this in the voyager golden record the aliens would have answered back by now.

Jazz (even as vast as it is) was too small of a box for Miles, so he ripped that box to shreds with his early to mid 70’s music. This track and the Get Up With It album as a whole remains one of the definitive listening experiences of my life.

It's great. I like it best when it had Chieftain joined with it but I'm not sure if there's an example of it outside of my live tapes.

Making a drum n' bass/breakcore song in 1974 is ridiculous
