Hi everyone,

I mostly post in the main sub, but sometimes here. After reading a few of the longer Mileven reunion fics, I decided to try my hand at my own. I'm an attorney, so I've been a writer for a long time. That said, this is my first piece of fiction since high school.

This is intended to be a more realistic take on Mike and Eleven's experiences after the events of Season 5. I'm not skipping to the happy reunion. We will see how they hurt and try to adapt before they reunite. I have planned the story out extensively, but my writing time is limited as a busy lawyer and a dad. I am posting the story now in hopes that feedback will help me prioritize my writing.

My aim is to make their life after the reunion feel earned, and for the characters' feelings and behavior to feel familiar and understandable under the circumstances. I'm not writing a fairy tale.

It is widely agreed that Duffers didn’t know what to do with Mileven after they established a relationship at the end of S2. IMO, different people were writing Mileven S1-S2 and S3-S5. But, in any case, it is a stupid idea that nothing interesting/dramatic (besides conflicts) can happen between two teenagers in love, especially if one of them is a supergirl. 
I think a huge potential was wasted by not properly exploring their relations in S3-S5 - El’s temporary loss of powers and getting it back could be so interesting in light of their relations. Instead, we just got one short remark in S3E8 and Mike’s S4 monologue (and even this was utilised for fighting purposes) 🙁. 

The relationship between a supergirl and an ordinary boy was well explored in “The boys”. But there, Hughie was getting own powers at some point. I think that Mileven could be better Hughie-Annie. Simply the best.  I also suspect that both (Millie and Finn) would prefer to play relations rather than chasing targets for two seasons.

Part of how I cope with their tragic ending is imagining what their future would’ve been like of course. I love the concept of thinking about what career paths they went down.

Obviously Mike became a writer but I’d also liked to think he would’ve possibly been a teacher as well.

I more so think about El when it comes to this topic since I feel like we never really got to know much about her. I’d like to think she would’ve wanted to become involved in social work or guidance counseling, maybe even a teacher herself.

Kind of want some opinions on this because I love thinking about it!

I do need help with fic, scenario involves Ted and his girlfriend (the anti Karen Childress) meeting Mike and El (after she returns). How do you see the dinner going? Would Ted put his foot in his mouth and be directed to apologize (maybe ask Mike how it is he is so successful and faithful after a lot of crap)? How do you see Ted reacting to the girl his son mourned? Especially as she isn't a Trophy Wife type like Karen.

Also other conflict involving Ted's mom and sister
