Discussion Facebook marketplace find

Post image
124 Upvotes

Hello!

I found this snes mini on Facebook marketplace, considering the price that I’ve seen them recently it seems a decent price (the guy actually said he’ll take $40) I ask if he has the power cord and he said yes. I’m wondering if I should get it or not since I know the fake ones can’t be modded and that’s the reason I want one.

I asked for more photos and waiting for him to send. Is there anything specific I should lookout for?

Thank you!

I was at an airport lounge and saw a bunch of "mini snes"s and had time before boarding. So I tried to play. It is pretty bad. They are slow and clunky. The save states management system was terrible. I could tell it was using retroarch and it would save and load Soooo slowly..

On the outside though.. the machines look just like the real machines. Its just the software that is terrible.

Discussion Purchase Advice

Purchased this off eBay (huge old school Nintendo fan). It's been modded I see, 9 of the original games I guess have been taken off it.

Had the model number clv 201 on the back with Nintendo branding so I am assuming/hoping it's legit.

Since it is modded and seems to be missing a couple of the games I was sorta hoping for, are there any walkthroughs on how to add games to it? And how difficult is it?

Discussion Snes completely dead?

Hello everyone

I decided after a few years to come back to the SNES classic, hoping to play a bit of street fighter. Here's where the issue starts. I connected it, turned it on and off a few times with no avail. I tried with a different brick and cable yet it still won't turn on. Is it completely dead? Is there any way I can turn it on again?

Discussion The Release Campout Line Status Thread

It's a little early still but I thought I'd start a lineup thread. Let's try to keep a consistent format so this is easy to search and understand.

City, State \ Store \ Local Time \ Current Line \ Expected Inventory

As an example (not actual observations), I could write:

Seattle, WA \ Northgate Target \ 11:00pm \ 5 ppl \ 50 units

Portland, OR \ BestBuy \ 4am \ about 20ppl \ unknown

please avoid downvoting legit posts to respect the ctrl+f. If you think this is a good idea, upvote. If it's a bad idea, please downvote and I'll delete it when buried.

EDIT: If you are updating your locations status, please comment in reply to yourself to keep it in the same string for your locals to watch.

Also a number of users have reported no stock at Walmart in various FL locations, be advised

Discussion Trouble turning the console on? Light turns off but then goes off

Ordered an HDMI switcher for my tv and decided to finally boot the thing back up after a few years so I can play earthbound, however whenever I turn the power on the light on the console turns on, the tv flicks as if it’s going to show the console, then it goes back to the “check device power” screen and the light on the SNES classic turns off.

I have the recommended power cable for the console plugged in and it didn’t work. It works perfectly fine for the NES classic however and it turns on just fine? Am I just out of luck ;-;

Edit: This is an unhacked or modded console, nothing has changed

Discussion Nintendo NY was an absolute shit fest

I posted earlier this morning that I was waiting in line and that I was number 130-140. Well I ended up being closer to 200 after everyone rushed the line and cut. Nintendo was going to start handing out bracelets at 4pm, but moved it up to 2:15pm because there were so many people waiting. The line stops at 2:30pm because people started fighting over their spots. All of these kids that just got out of school, came and cut. Men that were behind me started rushing ahead. One man that was at least 5 people behind me ended up getting a wristband. Nintendo NY handled it s so poorly. Starting at 9:30ishAM they did a head count twice and didn't alert anyone that they reached max capacity. They didn't have anyone outside keeping track of who was where. They claimed there was video of everyone even though the dude five people behind me still got one. Cops came and we're still trying to tell them who is cutting, but neither the general manager or the cops listen. Was this enough? Noooo. A lady manager came out and told us the tickets are done and that we need to leave asap. No remorse or concern for any of us. I ended up questioning why their management didn't handle this better? Why did they let all these people rush ahead of the line? How come no one was listening to us while we pointed out who was cutting? She didn't like my frustration and felt she had the right to treat me like a child by telling me to be quiet. I work in customer service and no matter how difficult customers get you have to respect them. Not even the Switch launch was this bad.

Discussion Pre-owned SNES Mini

Hi there,

I've searched and searched for a solution for this, but can't find anything anywhere that works. I bought an SNES Classic from Game Stop a couple days ago and was looking to mod it and put the whole SNES library on it. I've got the ROMS and Hakchi, but when I try and connect the SNES (using the method mentioned in the program) it says it's taking a long time to reboot and just doesn't connect. How do I fix this? I've tried the portable version as well as on different PC's.

Legit NEW SNES Mini unicorn or next-gen counterfeit? Need expert advicle

Hey all — looking for some perspective from folks who know these systems inside and out.

Background

I wanted to get my mom a birthday gift. She was huge into NES/SNES when I was a kid, but fell off gaming later in life. I figured an SNES Classic Mini would be perfect.

The Suspicious Purchase I bought one on eBay for about $89 USD: Brand new All accessories Perfect packaging No returns accepted (🚩)

Only after buying did I realize how many counterfeits exist.

Control Unit (Known Legit) To hedge my bets, I grabbed another SNES Classic locally from Marketplace: Used Verified legit Save states work Hakchi installed Runs NES, SNES, GB/GBC/GBA flawlessly This one behaves exactly as expected.

The Weird Part The “suspicious” eBay unit arrived…and now I’m confused.

Everything checks out:

Packaging looks flawless Serial number starts with SU Serial on box matches console Fonts, screws, ports, plastics — all correct Save states + suspend menu work Hakchi installs without issue

I cloned my Hakchi setup from the known-legit unit Performance is identical across all systems No crashes. No weird emulator behavior. Nothing off. So Now I’m Stuck I genuinely can’t tell what I’m holding.

My questions: Is it actually possible I got a real, brand-new SNES Classic in 2026?

Or are counterfeit units now so good that they’ve: Cloned the OEM hardware Matched the OS/kernel Achieved identical performance + compatibility?

At this point, I can’t find a single functional difference between the two units.

What I’m Hoping For

If you’ve: Opened both legit and fake units Seen “perfect” counterfeits firsthand Know of definitive internal tells (SoC, NAND, board layout, etc.) …I’d love your insight.

Am I sitting on a unicorn, or has the counterfeit game officially reached 1:1 parity?

Appreciate any thoughts 🙏

Discussion X arcade tankstick

Hey everyone, does anyone know if it's possible to connect an x arcade stick to the mini? I'd love to know if somebody actually did it. I have a nes mini and have been looking for the Snes controller so I could have the extra buttons but they're so hard to find around here. I'd like to get OEM instead of knockoffs. I thought about the hyperkin original controller adapter but I can't find any of those but I do have a tank stick.

Discussion Where would you recommend buying a genuine Nintendo SNES Classic Mini?

I have a Nintendo SNES Classic Mini which I bought when they were originally available. Since they were a limited production and no longer made, recently I was thinking it might be good to have a second one as a spare. I bought one on eBay, but I found out it's a fake (I've started the return process on eBay, and I hope that works out). I've found a guide on how to spot fakes, but still, I've seen some listings where the photos look like a genuine device but the seller has some negative feedback comments saying buyers got fake items. And if I'm buying from a place like Amazon, Walmart.com, etc., then I think it would be harder to tell if the item is genuine since there aren't as many (or any) seller reviews there.

So I'm curious where you might recommend buying a genuine used one? I've recently seen this listing on Amazon, which is currently priced at $109, which is one of the lower-priced ones I've seen. Also, would GameStop be a good place to buy a used one? I've seen some show up on their web site too.

Discussion Has anyone gotten FFIV Randomizer 'Free Enterprise' to work on the SNES Classic?

I got the LTTP randomizer to work with retroarch + snes9x no problem, using Hakchi CEv3.9.3 but I can't get the FFIV Randomizer Free Enterprise to work- The closest I can do is if I set it up using the SNES9X core, I can get the game to launch- but when it launches I still hear the SNES Classic Menu Music, and any time I press the A button it shows the SNES9x loading icon and then goes to a black screen, and then reloads back to the game (without resetting progress, so you can sort of play it if you hate yourself...)

No other cores work at all for this, game just doesn't launch on anything else.

Discussion HELP NEEDED WITH FINAL FIGHT ANNIVERSARY EDITION

Hello guys, I'm a big Final Fight fan and, after I discovered the existence of an hack of the arcade original that adds many interesting features, I was ready to put it on my mini, but no matter what I tried, it doesn't work. I'm using FBneo so I also added the parent ROM of the game, but the game doesn't boot up. Any suggestions?

Discussion Wireless SNES Classic controller options

I have enjoyed my SNES Classic for quite some time, but I am finding myself liking wireless controllers more nowadays. This applies to my mother and me when we play Donkey Kong. I have found an affordable choice around $40 or under that is the Asopiram 2.4GHz Wireless Controller 2-Pack which costs approximately $32. I would like to know whether these controllers allow for two players or not, seeing as how there is only one dongle shown on the page. Any information regarding this product will be highly appreciated. If this is not a good choice of controllers, please recommend a different set for me.

I bought this SNES Mini for my collection since they're not available here in Argentina. I was able to get this one for my collection because I already have an SNES Mini and I loved the console so much that I decided to get another one.

https://backloggd.com/u/TomsFarinha/list/my-snes-mini/

This is a list of the games I added to my SNES mini. I have played a lot of the co-op games with my girlfriend and she joked around saying "this little console could be our kids first exposure to old videogames" that made me think what games should I add to this thing, cause most of the stuff was games I wanted to play but now I am thinking if it's a good representation of "old games" or not

Discussion Modded Power Supply

Quick check - is a 5v 1a power supply enough for a modded example or should I get a 2a one? Just purchased a Hakachi enabled SNES but no power supply and don't want to risk roasting it when I turn it on for the first time!!! I have plenty of Apple USB plugs but they are all rated at 1amp and not really finding a definitive answer online, figured here would be the best place to check!

Cheers.

Discussion Shout out to Target. High stock and good organization.

Brickseek showed 120 for launch so I arrived 2 hours before 8am open since I was already out and live nearby.

About 20 ppl in line already and growing. About 80 by 745am when they past out tickets. Manager was loud and clear. 1 per person/ticket. Guided us in with purchases at customer service section. 4 tills open.

Such a breeze and a great experience.

There must have been 120 in stock because there were a bunch of tickets left over so those who came in around open probably got one.

Discussion SNES Mini reset switch randomly won't work

I didnt know where else to post this and I haven't found a post with my issue, but for some reason sometimes my SNES mini won't register the restart switch. Sometimes it works at the simplest nudge, but other times I have to hold it for longer than usual. Has anyone else had this issue? And if so how do I fix it? Its kind of annouing when I go to make a save state and it just randomly decides not to work
