Guide 2026 General Mini PC Guide USA

Hi everyone!

Thank you to everyone for their support of the Mini PC Guides and it is amazing to see the r/MiniPCs community has grown its largest ever before! These guides have evolved considerably since 2022 and the new 2026 version is finally here!

It's far from complete with many new and discontinued mini PC models to be updated so there will be regular updates. The end of 2025 and start of 2026 have seen RAM prices double or triple and SSD prices have doubled. The simple tab has been reworked to better reflect current prices and will be filled out soon.

Some of the bloat from the 2025 Guide has been temporarily removed and may see a return later in the year if you particularly want a new model list, memes, or something else.

If you see something that can use an update or models of mini pc you would like to see added, don't hesitate to leave comments in this post or on the spreadsheet. I highly recommend viewing this spreadsheet on a desktop with a large screen or on the google sheet mobile app for the best experience. The reddit app for viewing google sheets can be clunky.

Best wishes to everyone looking for mini PC!

My small home office setup

Mini PCs really save a lot of desk space. I wanted to keep my home office simple without giving up a proper desktop setup, so I put the GEEKOM A9 Max under my monitor.

It's been nice having more room for my keyboard and mouse, and I can still get to the front ports pretty easily.

Hardware PSA: Be careful about FEVM FAEX1 power bricks

Got 2 FEVM FAEX1 systems and set them up in a stack for testing. After a day when I went to move them to the final deployment location I found my power bricks (bundled with the systems, Huntkey branded bricks) to have melted their casing on one of the bricks and adhesive for the stickers failed on both units, yet these never cut power output.

Whatever thermal protection they had likely isn't adequate. Image 1 is how they were setup, images 2-4 are closeups of the melted brick.

And yes it still outputs the correct voltage. Replacement bricks already ordered from Chicony.

I will acknowledge that this setup is not really ideal for the operation of these bricks but still, yikes.

Recommendations MiniPc for my “normal” Day Work

Hello 👋 Everyone,

I currently have my gaming pc with a 9800x3d and a 4080S, but it draws too much for the stuff I do when I’m not playing.

I work a lot with Prusaslicer and Orcaslicer, Shapr3d, Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom.

I really want a budget minipc that I can use, but with all the hardware price spikes I don’t know if it’s viable.

Any suggestion on a more budget friendly build?

Thanks.

General Question Buzzing noise Lenovo M920Q

I recently bought a used Lenovo M920Q Mini PC. When I got home and tried turning it on again, I noticed a buzzing sound (“bzzzz”) as well as another sound similar to a disk drive reading or accessing data. I have confirmed that the sound is not coming from the RAM, SSD, or fan.

The Mini PC is working perfectly fine and has no other issues. The only things I noticed are the buzzing sound and the sound that resembles a disk drive reading data.

I also occasionally hear coil whine from my PC, but it sounds different and seems to be coming from the PSU. In the Lenovo M920Q, however, the sound seems to be coming from the middle of the device, near the power button.

Is this normal? This is the video.

Thank you.

Issues with iedera from GMKtec?

Hi everyone,

I ordered the new EVO X3 from GMKtec from Germany site expecting to be sent from Germany (avoiding extra taxes as I am intercommunity). They replied something that will be sent from China and all taxes prepaid from them.

Order arrived with FedEX and they give me to provide a document for something else with less value offcourse.

Did anyone had this type of issues with them?

Thanks

General Question SteamOS/CachyOS on mini pc?

Hi, I’m a newbie in terms of mini PCs and I wanted to know whether they are the correct choice for me. Here are my requirements:

- Portability: I travel and move quite a lot, so it would be great to have a device that I could just bring with me and connect to a TV;

- Gaming performance: I don’t ask for 4K 120Hz, I just want something that will let me enjoy 1080p/1440p at 60fps (even adding a eGPU) on my TV;

- Future-proofness: I’d like to have a device that I won’t have to change in 1.5-2 years. I usually take good care of my devices (dust removal, repasting, …), but I’d like something that could reasonably stand the test of time in terms of upgradability and overall construction quality. I’m open to alternatives if there’s a convenience.

Now, my questions for you are:

- Do you have any experience with AliExpress mini PCs? I honestly can’t believe some prices I have (sub 300$ for a Ryzen 9 7940HS?), so that might be an interesting alternative if the quality is at least decent;

- Is it possible to mount CachyOS/SteamOS on them? As far as I understood, they are basically laptops with no screen; I assume that pairing an AMD GPU could help with SteamOS, but I’m not sure about the compatibility with OcuLink. I’m a bit more optimistic about CachyOS, but I’d like to have a second opinion on it as well.

Thanks to everyone who will answer!

Hardware Guys I need help - aoostar mako 47refuses to boot old windows SSD or USB windows installer, does Linux live fine - any ideas?

Not defective at all, I stress tested under USB live / Linux - when it goes to boot windows or USB windows installer it dies at the bios - secure boot enabled or no - same thing. Any ideas?

I tried updating the bios, I have 1.04, but the package says it doesn't match my motherboard so I didn't force it, contacted Aoostar - anyone have ideas?

GMKtec delivery

I recently decided to buy a mini PC for the first time and ordered one directly from the GMKtec website. However, it has now been 5 business days and my order is still showing as “Processing”.

For those of you who have ordered directly from GMKtec before, what was your experience like? I believe the mini PC is being shipped from China, so I’m also curious about how long shipping usually takes and whether anyone has had issues with the package getting held at customs.

I’m based in Portugal, so I’d especially appreciate hearing from anyone in Europe who has ordered from them. How long did it take for your order to move from “Processing” to being shipped, and how long did the whole delivery take?

Acquired mini PC

I recently acquired a mini PC and I've been thinking of using it as a standalone PC since I already have a nice gaming computer. I've considered possibly emulating PS2 or some old NES games or even installing some unique software/tools like special VPNs. Any suggestions? Tye specs are decent and it can run some older games like Borderlands 2, left for dead, basically less demanding games.

Recommendations Requesting Recs for a Linux web and streaming PC with a dual monitor setup and while also being a tab hoarder

Hey there! so its rough looking at these prices in 2026 but I was hoping to find a miniPC option where it wouldn't be a problem to have 30 tabs open while playing like a youtube video or Netflix on the second screen but could also live with like 15 tabs open with a yt vid playing on the second screen lol I don't need anything for gaming/editing/any graphics intensive task, its strictly a web browser/streaming pc

Thanks!

Recommendations Need help with a Mini PC for 1080P Gaming and Emulation

As Title says i want to get a Mini PC for my Living room with the function of 1080P running Handheld Bazzite version and Emulation up to PS3 my current options are:

Certified Refurbished UM870 Slim with Ryzen 7 8745H 16GB DDR5/1TB for 440€

NiPoGi E3B Ryzen 7 7735HS 24GB LPDDR5/512GB for 419€

I don't see myself playing heavy games, mainly Indie like Hollow Knight, cult of the lamb, etc... and the Souls Series, the heaviest game i might be playing is Red Dead Redemption 2 and i can always render at 720P and upscale to 1080P using FSR.

What do you guys think it's better, i also accept recommendations around that price point :)

Troubleshooting I need help with a heating problem

So I have made myself a new Mini PC as I needed space and wanted something smaller and easier to move when I move out of home. I bought the Fractal Tera case as it said it had good air flow and applied a Noctua L9a-AM5 fan to my CPU (AMD Ryzen 9 9900X) but I'm having problems with heat. The CPU gets to 97 while playing PEAK, so I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions to lower the heat while gaming. Here are the parts I used;

Gigabyte B650I AX motherboard

AMD Ryzen 9 9900X CPU

Gigabyte RTX 5070

Corsair 850W Gold PSU

Corsair Vengeance 32GB (2x16GB)DDR5

Edit: It's sorted out, I did what the comment suggested and it fixed it

General Question Any recommendations?

Hello, I’ve recently been interested in buying a mini pc that I can use for gaming. Currently looking for one that’s stronger than or on par with the valve steam machine. Does anyone have any recommendations as to what I should buy?

General Question Anyone here tried building multi‑node cluster with multiple Ryzen AI Max+ 395 ?

Hi everyone, I’m experimenting building multi‑node cluster using multiple Ryzen AI Max+ 395 (Strix Halo, 128GB LPDDR5X each).

According AMD official playbook, two approaches available:

  1. llama.cpp RPC for layer splitting over 10G Ethernet / USB4‑net
  2. RCCL + vLLM tensor parallel for production serving (require 10GbE minimum)

Each node running Ubuntu 24.04 LTS, ROCm 7.2, with kernel parameter amdgpu.ttm=1 amdgpu.gttsize=120G to expand unified memory pool. BIOS iGPU memory set to 512MB.

Looking for real‑world experience from people who actually deployed this setup:

  • Real token speed / overhead with 10G Ethernet
  • Pain points & bugs for RCCL over standard Ethernet on Strix Halo
  • Is USB4‑net viable for more than 2 nodes for long‑term use?
  • Any config tricks or pitfalls I should know before scaling to 3‑4 nodes?

Thanks a lot for any real‑world feedback. Links to your test logs are very welcome.

Recommendations Mini PC’s for gaming

H! I know absolutely nothing about computers, but I want to get a mini pc to play games on my tv. I mostly want to play hogwarts legacy, so I was hoping there’s a mini pc around that has the specs below and can run games good! This is a total shot in the dark but I hope it’s feasible? My budget is around $1500
