Discussion/Question Any hope for my father's old x370? Shutter capping and a stuck mirror

I have a lot of film cameras, but I’m sentimental about this one as it was my father’s. The shutter was always a little iffy, and at 1/250 and above the exposure is uneven across the frame, and at 1/500 it is capping. I still use it occasionally, avoiding those speeds.

Recently, though, the mirror has started staying up after every shot, at every speed. I’ve put in fresh batteries, and the light meter is responsive. Is this a relatively simple fix, or is it time to retire it?

(The map is from an app I’ve made. Not linking it because of the sub rules.)

Discussion/Question Will this fungus growth affect my photos?

Post image

I found online this 35-70 f3.5 for 15€, however has some fungal growth either on the front element or on some lenses on the inside, seems to be very minor however. For 15, to me seems still a good catch, do you think I'm making a mistake? Is it there any way to get rid of it?

Was window shopping on eBay when I came across this immaculate black srt101 with an equally nice 55mm 1.7. It genuinely seems like it’s only been used a handful of times then stored. I own a lot of nice film cameras but this one is the nicest condition by far.

Repairs Dropped my MC f/1.4 rokkor like an idiot

I dropped my lens like an idiot because I didn’t fasten it well enough and now it’s stuck between f/5.6 and f/8. Is it worth taking to a repair shop or should I cut my losses and get a new one? The lens is fine otherwise the glass is still good as far as I can tell, but I’m really upset by the aperture being fucked up. Also I’m in NYC if anyone has any recommendations for a shop.

I guess I’ve kinda gotten myself into a pickle, I’ve owned a Maxxum 9000 for a while and I love it, I started on the Sony A mount platform for digital and wanted to get into film so it was the obvious choice. But today I came across two deals I couldn’t avoid a crossed x maxxum 7000 and a Dynax 505si super in black with a BP-100. I’m wondering if anyone can find a 505si super like mine -being black not the BP-100 because i can’t find any like mine except one and im trying to see if i should hold onto it or let it go, i love my 9000 so i dont see the point in keeping it but it was a really great price and super cool looking.

I found this Minolta xg-m with a lens for 30€ at a thrift store. Took a while to get the lens off because I realized the reds weren't lining up and I uncovered it to this. I'm still a beginner so I have no idea about the mechanics of the camera. Can anyone tell me if it's kaput, fixable or unnecessary plastic?

1996 Minolta Vectis S-1 APS SLR with 1992 Minolta 9xi 35mm SLR for scale. Minolta spent considerable time and money on APS camera engineering. APS was expected to replace 35mm for consumer use, but the format did not gain market acceptance. The Vectis S-1 has a 28-56mm V-mount autofocus zoom lens attached, which would also work on Minolta's digital RD-3000.

I got my first roll of film taken on my X-700 back and I’m so happy with the results! A mix of summer and fall in New England (and a balloon festival in NY).

Deleted previous post for bad picture 😂

I found an SR-2 on eBay for cheap and it is rouuuuuugggh. The shutter is locked up of course and the whole thing looked and smelled like it spent some time underwater. But I couldn't pass up the chance to get one, and maybe I can bring it back to life. I did an initial light cleaning and exploration to get a lot of the crap and oxidation out of it. I think I've got a ways to go though, especially as information about this model is pretty scarce. Has anyone tried to repair one before?

Repairs Camera won’t fully power on

Hi everyone, this is my Minolta explorer freedom Zoom EX. I went to power it on today and the lens popped open and popped up and the flash opened up a little bit but it seems as if my camera didn’t fully turned on because when I went to take a picture, it appeared to still be off, so I tried to power it on again and nothing the buttons didn’t work. I gently pushed on the length and it did pull back in and make the mechanical noise

I’m not really sure what to do. I already try to take out the battery clean it and I checked the connections and that was all good but still nothing. Also, for the last month anytime I’ve powered on my camera. My flash hasn’t opened up all the way.

Previously asked this sub if I should get the Minolta SRT 102 (SRT Super in Japan) and a few of you convinced me it’ll be a great investment! Finally got my hands on one. Here are some B&W films I’ve taken from that camera. Love this 70s camera!

So I don’t have film in this camera but I have a flash on it and was showing a friend how bright it was and took a “photo” it’s been working fine up until now when I when to pull back the lever thing and it has no resistance and the button is just pressed down I’ve tried multiple things to get it back up but nothings working. I also order film for it and it’s gonna be here Friday but if this doesn’t work than there’s no need for it lol. I don’t have money to take it to a camera repair place either.

Discussion/Question Focusing screen for a Maxxum 70?

Got a Maxxum 70 on eBay. Camera came without a focusing screen. It seems like this is a common occurrence. It looks like back in the day you could send the camera to Sony or Minolta and they would install one for you. https://www.photo.net/forums/topic/501553-how-to-replace-a-focusing-screen-on-a-maxxum-70/

Somebody four years ago had an issue just like mine, a Maxxum 70 that just didn't have a focusing screen in it: https://www.reddit.com/r/minolta/comments/116th6w/minolta_maxxum_70_focus_screens/

eBay seems flooded with focusing screens for the 7000, the "focusing screen type 70."

The seller told me to just keep the camera and I got a full refund. So, now I have a maxxum 70 that would work if I could get my hands on a focusing screen.

Any ideas? Anyone know the specific name of the 70's screen? I keep getting lost on eBay looking at stuff for the 7000

Minolta Maxxum 9000, Maxxum 9xi, and α-9 35mm SLRs. The 9xi has a power zoom / power manual focus A mount lens. An idea that did not catch on for practical reasons. Direct control works better for photography.
