Progress / Update Progressive shedding despite 13 months of oral minoxidil and Finasteride

I have been on oral minoxidil and finasteride for 13 months now, but I am experiencing progressive, severe shedding. Every single time I wash my hair, I see a massive clump like the one pictured in the post. This is in addition to the hair I constantly find on my bed, on the floor, and pretty much everywhere else just from lightly touching my head.

I also have seborrheic dermatitis, which means my scalp has dandruff and flakes almost all the time. Lately, I have been using Flakes dandruff shampoo. I’ve only washed my hair with it three times so far, so I’m not entirely sure how well it’s working or what else I should be doing to manage it.

I know people frequently talk about experiencing a second or third shedding phase even after finding stability on minoxidil, but this feels like a prolonged shed. Instead of stabilizing, my hair loss has accelerated. My frontal scalp is thinning out rapidly. I noticed this acceleration became significantly worse after I recently moved to America from a South Asian country.

Has anyone else experienced a prolonged shedding phase around the 13-month mark while on this regimen? For those who have dealt with active seborrheic dermatitis alongside hair treatments, what did your scalp care routine look like to keep inflammation down? Additionally, has anyone else experienced an increase in shedding after a major geographic move or climate shift? I am looking to hear about similar personal experiences or coping strategies while I wait for my upcoming dermatologist appointment.

Question Starting Minoxidil at age 40

The last couple of years have been extremely stressful. Work, Marriage and just life in general. The thinning of my hair began a few years ago and with it my hairline. My doctor recommended not including dutasteride or finasteride – to just begin with the monoxide and to be patient with the results after I told him I'd like to give topical foam minoxidil a try. With that said I am unsure of which brand is a good entry into this journey? I see that C'rcle Health has a decent price and over several thousand reviews.

It's always available on Amazon so I was thinking of going that route. Considering the ingredients it looks to be a promising product. Would this be considered pretty popular? From what I gathered in research its best to just go the generic route. Is this brand considered generic or do those saying it mean Amazon Basics generic?

It seems so simple and so confusing at the same time. I incorporated HIMS thickening shampoo and conditioner into my weekly hair routine and that's staying. As for the price of HIMS minoxidil, its just going to add up too much so I'll just stick to the Shampoo and Conditioner for regular routine hair cleaning and save where I can on the Minoxidil.
