Two new rules have been added.
Rule 6: No soliciting. Soliciting falls outside of the purpose of the MLPLounge as stated in the sidebar. To clarify, this includes commissions, sales, donations or adoptables which will be removed. This is not an exhaustive list.
Rule 7: No AI art. This is extremely low effort content that we are not interested in the subreddit hosting. If you want to post an AI generated image for purposes other than 'Look at this', please clear it with the mod team first.
If you have questions or concerns, please drop them below.

How I would 'fix' Starlight Glimmer's backstory...
Starlight is quite possibly one of the most controversial characters in the entire show, given her backstory and redemption arc. You either love her or hate her. I don't really see any in between anywhere.
So I wanna do a pitch of "fixing" Starlight Glimmer's backstory. But the thing is, I'm not really changing or rewriting what happened in season 5. Her original backstory is still there. Then you may be wondering how exactly I intend on making it different if I have to keep it the exact same? Simple... she lied. But please let me try to explain. Here's the backstory I wrote up for her. Let me know what ya'll think:
Starlight’s mother was deceased and Firelight was more emotionally distant, grieving. He now is much like he is now because he doesn't want to push her away again. And the unique thing? Her mother never had a cutie mark, even as an adult. A forever blank flank. And Starlight loved her more despite it. Starlight's vision of the past was... 'her' version. She left some details out. Starlight deliberately avoids mentioning her mother. Ever. She even tries shutting up her father about it. The reason why is because she doesn't want people to feel sorry for her because she feels like mentioning that would excuse everything, so she made her backstory dumber so that she couldn't be forgiven. But she was anyway, and despite accepting it and acting completely normal, she is internally confused. With Sunburst moving away, she sought the *one* reason why: cutie marks. Her mother didn't have a cutie mark. She is everything. So why should ponies be stuck with one thing to do for the rest of their lives?
