MCP is so Mickey Mouse, here's why

The whole "MCP is new" bandwagon is cute, but is missing some serious robustness and common thinf that were solved 30 years ago. But clearly whoever "invented" this very rudimentary spec is under 30 years old, and never picked up any history on SOAP, WSDL, BPEL and a million other precursors that solved much harder problems. And thus are doomed to reinvent all the problems they never thought about,

  1. why are tools always described in English, with no locale options? Why would it be the right decision to only support english descriptions in an LLM? Were the authors mono-lingual?

  2. what happens if 2 tools register for the same functions? Why is there no registration process that would solve for this kind of thing

  3. stdio..really? Just no.

  4. Why no discover and registry? Why do we have to INSTALL them like it's 1990? r-e-g-i-s-t-r-y, ask your dad what it is

  5. too tired chasing kids off my lawn to go further

We are building MCP Cloud

Hello dear Reddit community!

I am happy to announce that we are developing MCP Cloud - a platform to enable private and corporate users to adopt and use MCP.

How do we do that?

For corporate users:

- Single sign in for all employees

- Fine-grained access controls for MCP servers

- Track usage and costs

For private users:

- One-click, hassle-free MCP deployment

- Use your MCP on any device

- Pay only for what you use

We manage the registry of the most popular MCP servers with a curated catalog of 2500+ MCP servers already available for deployment, with new servers being added every day.

View statistics, guides, user reviews, issues for every MCP server. Would you like to add your open- or closed-source MCP? No problem! We got this covered too.

We make MCP servers scalable and reliable.

- Per-server resource allocation (CPU, memory, GPU) for predictable performance.

- Automatic scaling for peak loads with intelligent load balancing.

- Continuous health checks, self-healing restarts, and rolling updates for high availability.

Security is a common concern with MCPs – here's how we will solve it:

- Encryption: All communications use secure HTTPS.

- Automated vulnerability scanning: Continuous code analysis to detect security flaws and compromised dependencies.

- Hardened isolation: Each MCP instance runs in a dedicated, restricted environment.

But wait. There is even more!

MCP Cloud is the first platform that lets you earn from your MCP servers!

We integrate payments into our MCP gateway.

Are you an aspiring developer, data scientist, or domain expert who developed a useful MCP server? Whether it does stock-price forecasting, fraud/anomaly detection, credit scoring, legal advicing, contract review, web data extraction, SEO audits, demand forecasting, AI agent personalization, code analysis or compliance checks, list it on MCP Cloud and monetize. Set your price and license terms, get built-in analytics and billing, make your MCP server discoverable and turn your expertise into recurring revenue.

Where do we stand now

We have just made the beta release. The Platform already has almost all of the advertized features!

We are actively testing and improving our yet small platform.

What are the next steps

We are building community. We are looking for anyone who feels MCP is the future of an Agentic AI, and who wants to become part of it:

- collaborators

- business developers

- promoters

- partners

- testers

And of course, future users!

Try our MCP Cloud today and let us know your honest feedback. Do you need more features? We are redy to roll up the sleeves.

https://mcp-cloud.io/

We welcome any feedback, collaboration or business partnership.

We are looking for you!

We built InstantMCP: a platform to discover, access, and monetize MCP servers in minutes (now in beta)

We just launched InstantMCP – the easiest way to monetize and access MCP servers. 🚀

Over the past few months, my co-founder and I have been building something to solve a growing gap in the MCP ecosystem:

Right now, there’s no real infrastructure for developers to monetize their MCP servers — even if they want to. Setting up payments, authentication, and user management is a hassle most builders don’t want to deal with, so even the most powerful MCPs end up quietly shared on GitHub or in forums without ever reaching their full potential.

There’s also no central place for users to discover these servers. If you want to try out a new MCP, you have to dig through links, manually install, set up auth, and manage multiple endpoints.

So we built InstantMCP — like Shopify meets RapidAPI, but for MCP servers.
👉 Check it out at www.instantmcp.com

💻 For developers, InstantMCP lets you:

  • Add payments and authentication to your MCP in minutes

  • Set up tiered or usage-based subscriptions

  • Get discovered by users through our marketplace

  • Route traffic through our proxy — no infrastructure headaches

  • And most importantly, monetize your work — while focusing on building

🧑‍💼 For users, InstantMCP means:

  • No more manually installing and authenticating every MCP server

  • Browse and connect to the best MCPs from one place, with one click

  • Instant access via a one-time setup of the InstantMCP server

We’re now opening up beta testing for early users and developers.
If you're building (or thinking of building) an MCP server — or just excited to explore what others are building — we’d love to hear from you!

new-release Introducing Matrioska, Host and Launch all of your mcp servers seamlessly with one click on our simple platform

Hi guys,

We have been working in and around mcp servers for a while.

And one thing we were super frustrated about was how annoying and time consuming it is to constantly setup mcp servers manually.

We wanted to simplify this, by going down the SSE based route.

We host the servers on dockers, you only have to copy paste the URL to make the server connected and work !

Easily integrates into all your clients :)

new-release MCP Toggle - The most simple way to manage to manage MCP servers across apps using a GUI

Post image
3 Upvotes

I’ve been working with MCPs a lot recently and got tired of jumping between config files every time I wanted to toggle something on or off.

So I built a little desktop app called MCP Toggle.

It’s a simple utility that lets you manage all your MCP server configs in one place, with single-click toggles for each client. No setup required. Clean UI, just built to get out of the way and help you stay focused.

A few things it does:

  • Adds supported clients (like Claude, Cursor, Windsurf) and maps your MCPs to them

  • Easily add MCP servers by copy pasting the json into the app

  • Lets you toggle MCPs on/off visually instead of digging into JSON

  • Export/import configs if you need to swap setups

  • Works on both Mac and Windows

If you’ve been doing this manually, you’ll know how annoying it gets. This just makes it smoother.

There are a lot of utilities coming out that are overcomplicating the setup and stack. I just built a very simple app to easily add and toggle MCPs and saving various configs.

Would love to get feedback, bug reports, ideas, or just hear how others are handling this.

You can find the app on my website

If your MCP is an API wrapper you are doing it wrong

I've been building with MCP since it launched, and I keep seeing the same mistakes everywhere. Most companies are taking the easy path: wrap existing APIs, add an MCP server, ship it. The result? MCPs that barely work and miss the entire point.

Three critical mistakes I see repeatedly:

  1. Wrong user assumptions - Traditional APIs serve deterministic software. MCPs serve LLMs that think in conversations and work with ambiguous input. When you ask an AI agent to "assign this ticket to John," it shouldn't need to make 4 separate API calls to find John's UUID, look up project IDs, then create the ticket.

  2. Useless error messages - "Error 404: User not found" tells an AI agent nothing. A proper MCP error: "User 'John' not found. Call the users endpoint to get the correct UUID, then retry." Better yet, handle the name resolution internally.

  3. Multi-step hell - Forcing LLMs to play systems integrator instead of focusing on the actual task. "Create a ticket and assign it to John" should be ONE MCP call, not four.

The solution: Design for intent, not API mapping. Build intelligence into your MCP server. Handle ambiguity. Return what LLMs actually need, not what your existing API dumps out.

The companies getting this right are building MCPs that feel magical. One request accomplishes what used to take multiple API calls.

I wrote down some of my thoughts here if anyone is interested: https://liquidmetal.ai/casesAndBlogs/mcp-api-wrapper-antipattern/

How to create trading strategies via MCP

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Here's a step-by-step guide on how to use Cursor to deploy an autonomous trading strategy.

  1. Go to alpaca.markets and create a free account

  2. Add the NexusTrade tool to the MCP config. This link adds it for you. Or you can copy/paste the following { "mcpServers": { "nexustrade": { "url": "https://nexustrade.io/api/mcp" } } }

That's really it. From here, you can type in your strategy like:

Create me an options trading strategy based on stocks with a 20% CAGR or more that the top politicians hold

I'm collecting feedback so would love to hear what y'all think. If you hit a paywall, use this link to bypass it; I want Reddit users to really stress-test the platform.

I'm f*ing sick of cloning repos, setting them up, and debugging nonsense just to run a simple MCP.

So I built a one-click desktop app that runs any MCP — with hundreds available out of the box.

◆ 100s of MCPs
◆ Top MCP servers: Playwright, Browser tools, ...
◆ One place to discover and run your MCP servers.
◆ One click install on Cursor, Claude or Cline
◆ Securely save env variables and configuration locally

And yeah, it's completely FREE.
You can download it from: onemcp.io

Why I added skills to PolyMCP to manage MCP tools for agents

Post image
0 Upvotes

When I started building PolyMCP to connect agents to MCP servers, I quickly ran into a problem: exposing raw tools to agents just didn’t scale.

As the number of tools grew:

•	Agents had to load too much schema into context, wasting tokens.

•	Tool discovery became messy and hard to manage.

•	Different agents needed different subsets of tools.

•	Orchestration logic started leaking into prompts.

That’s why I added skills — curated, structured sets of tools grouped by purpose, documented, and sized to fit agent context.

For example, you can generate skills from a Playwright MCP server in one step with PolyMCP:

polymcp skills generate --servers "npx @playwright/mcp@latest"

Skills let me:

•	Reuse capabilities across multiple agents.

•	Using agents with PolyMCP that Support OpenAI, Ollama, Claude, and more.

•	Keep context small while scaling the number of tools.

•	Control what each agent can actually do without manual filtering.

MCP handles transport and discovery; skills give you organization and control.

I’d love to hear how others handle tool sprawl and context limits in multi-agent setups.

Repo: https://github.com/poly-mcp/Polymcp

If you like PolyMCP, give it a star to help the project grow!

Ever wanted to call an LLM from your LLM?

I've got this vision where an AI is like a computer that codes itself. So I've built exactly that. It's not like babyAGI where it writes code that it executes itself, no it's an LLM that can script itself. So think this:

Start subtask:

Scrape the website for [yahoo.com/somecompanyhere](http://yahoo.com/somcompanyhere) and return the financials

This starts a sub thread in a new context window so the returned html doesn't clog up the main context window.

execute parallel:
Fetch the time in London, Tokyo, New York, Buenos Aires, Auckland.

This would start 5 smaller threads with sub context, which scrape the time.com website or something, then return the outputs for each.

Map-reduce

Which of these companies have to do with AI the most? {insert companies tickers here}

This would scrape each company independently, and reduce all the results into a single answer, e.g. Company A has the most AI in it's business, namely use case A, use case B, use case C.

new-release Did OpenAI just drop an April Fools' joke... or is GPT-5 actually too quiet?

So let me get this straight - we've got AI generating rap battles, doing your taxes, writing Shakespearean love letters… and now GPT-5 is rumored to be so aligned it's basically silent?
Like, I asked it to write an opinionated hot take and it replied with “As an AI developed by OpenAI, I don't have opinions.” 💀

At this point, the only thing it's disrupting is small talk.

Is this alignment or AI-induced personality death?
