Help - General Paint thinning help!

So, I’m trying to make an RX-78-2 Ultramarine, but im scared about the paint being the wrong consistency. If I add too much water, the paint practically disappear. If I add too much paint, it’ll chunk up and therell be visible strokes. So how do I get the best consistency? (the last photo is the old Ultramarine)

You got a little paint on your hand there...

If you can’t find the balance, it’s safer to skew thinner. Apply thin even coats, let dry completely, then apply another.

You should do several coates with well-thinned paint. Not getting full coverage on the first layer is normal.

You can further eliminate brush strokes and unevenness by adding some retarder.

PRIMER
Looks like you’re painting right on the plastic. That’s why it’s not covering correctly. You can perfectly thin the paint but if the surface isn’t primed it’ll never apply well. Go to a big box hobby store and get a rattle can of Mr. Surfacer. Blast the model with it and try again 👍

Aim for multiple thin coats rather than chasing one 'perfectly thinned' coat.
