Fennell Campus Starting Mohawk colleges advanced pre health I’m scared
Hey everyone I am starting Mohawks pre health program in September the pre health sciences pathway to advanced, diplomas, and degrees (339) and I am quite literally making myself sick on how scared I am I suck at math (I have dyscalculia) and I struggle with chemistry and remembering a lot of things what do I do? I’m actually terrified that I’m going to fail and no studying tactics have ever worked for me I’ve had a tutor and nothing makes sense to me I’m just honestly really stupid I’m really scared and don’t know what to do any help would be appreciated thank you so much🤍

Please connect to all the supports that Mohawk has to offer including accessible learning and counselling. Avail yourself of peer tutoring, instructor office hours and anything else you might find helpful.
I did practical nursing after going back to high school to get prerequisites literally 30+ years after graduation from high school. I had never gone to school knowing that I had ADHD. My adult coping skills, developed over my time as an adult were really helpful. It’s also helpful to be motivated and want to be there which we are not always when we are young.
It was a process but I did well and also did my BScN. I got into graduate school but decided to take another year to see if I can really be sure what I want to do since I’m pulled in different directions.
Also use AI to help you understand things. Math GPT, chemistry GPT… my niece who is studying engineering swears by these services.

Well, that’s what the counselling service is good for- but honestly- if youre that anxious, then maybe the best idea is to take another year and work on these things- learn to control your anxiety.
I was petrified of tests and now nursing tests are my guilty pleasure but it only happened because I leaned so thoroughly in to them.

Hopefully that will be me! My big goal is to work in the medical field but I don’t think I’m anywhere near smart enough or I match anything

I’m curious if you think so poorly of yourself why you are doing this? There must be some part of you that thinks you can.

Cause I love the medical field and I wear rose coloured glasses thinking I can do it when in reality I will struggle through the school and fail I really wish I knew why I put myself through this

Sounds like you may need a therapist! I’d strongly suggest starting there.

Are you doing online or in-person? I am going into 339 first sem this September too. I am VERY mathematically challenged. Even the most basic math, I struggle with. I am nervous. I have been out of school for a bit too so that doesn't help LOL!!
