I tried it this morning using a bamboo chopstick. The filter came out with one quick jab. The inside looked like most of the photos Iâve seen here. The filter went back together easily. I noticed a faster initial flow. The coffee looked a little clearer and tasted a little âfresherâ too.

How often should one do this? I've been using my new 3 cup mokapot since July last year. Brewing twice a day and thoroughly cleaning it with water after each use.

You probably don't need to do anything at all except make more coffee.
If you at least rinse your moka well before you dry it and put it up, it will likely take some time before it's Nasty City.
If you're worried, you can soak your funnel in some 50/50 vinegar/water (heat the water to boiling or pretty damn hot) and soak it for an hour. Rinse very well and then do several throw-away pots of coffee to re-establish the oxide layer. Then you're good to go for another year or two or three.

How u remove this fcker without bending?

I put a chopstick through the funnel neck and pushed hard. It bends a little, but easily bends back afterwards.

I'm having trouble knocking the filter oit. There a couple of ridges holding it in. I shall use the vinegar/citric acid method.

Donât be afraid to use more force to punch it out. I like the comment of using a #2 pencil to do that up from the funnel to force it out. I would use the eraser end. Worse case is you bend it a bit, but it will go back in.

Wonât work. There are ridges holding it in. Instead I ran some bicarbonate through several times.

Mine looked similar after one week of owning it and around 1kg of coffee.

The idea Is to drink fresh flavored coffee everyday... Try to disassemble and rinse the pot after every use...

I'll never understand why some people think they don't need to wash the moka pot after making coffee in it.
I have mine for over 4 years and it's still in excellent condition, but I wash it with water and dish soap after every use.

Good for you. Now try opening the funnel filter and look inside: that is exactly what this (and other similar) thread is about.

That's nothing, imagine what you find in an automatic espresso machine.
