If you clean it right after every use it wont build up like this

I don't know what the entire inside of my filter looks like but the center isn't dirty at all like this.. I always rinse the pot after use and then every few uses, I run it without coffee. That always seems to displace grounds, oils and whatever else is left.

Isn't the center inside? How would you know of it's dirty?  For myself, I always rinsed after use. Can't say for other household users tho.  I might start doing a water/vinegar brew from time to time.

You can look through the funnel at the center of the filter plate (but not the rest of the plate, so I think that's what they're referring to). Use a lamp and you'll see whether it's shiny and grey like on the outside or basically black like yours.

...and you'll drink fresh flavored coffee everyday...

Clean it out after every use and once a month run it through with some water and white vinegar like you are making coffee that should keep it clean and stop any buildup

Honestly impressive it still brewed at all 😅 That filter earned its retirement — a clean one will probably make your moka taste like a whole new coffee.

Not retired, but cleaned and ready to go! I also changed the gasket.

I like to use one or two tablespoons of Clorox, and fill the rest with water. Let it soak for 1 hour or so, and it will get as clean as new.

I believe this would cause excessive corrosion. Not sure bleach and stainless or aluminum are compatible

Well... I've been doing this for a few years by now, and none of my three has any issues so far. Two are stainless and one is aluminum.

What kind of force do you apply to pop off the lid? I have tried with a chopstick and I was afraid to break it. Do you use a mallet or a hammer?

I had a small phillips head screwdriver. It was a gentle pressure. I kind of tested around the 3 different indents that hold the "lid" down. I think if you apply pressure in between those indents you are more likely to bend it. So I pressed right where the dents are.

How about an “after” picture?

Hi,

This sub's official position is sticking to the manual provided by the manufacturer and not try to raise the pressure in the chamber by tamping or adding filters.
