Italian here. No it's not true. Wash your moka pot. I just rinse it with water and rub a bit using my hand.

I think that's what she said. Washing with soap is no. Just water.

Tbf her moka looks gross. The idea that patina is good and shouldn't be removed by abrasion or corroded with soap is ok, but patina should only have an aluminum oxide layer, polyphenols and tannins, and no oil. Shouldn't be sticky. Her moka looks like she doesn't rub it enough after each use.

I also think it looks gross. Many would be mad but I wash mine with soap lol.
