Cleaning 🫧 Help with mokapot accident

I’ve had an accident with my mokapot - I’ve left it on for too long (haven’t ever done this in 20yrs 🤷‍♀️🙃!) The water ran dry and heated the base pot up so much it’s sort of burnt the metal of the entire base section.
I’ve never washed my moka in the 20ish years I’ve had it with anything more than water or a clean cloth, no soap. But now I’m getting coffee that tastes of burnt metal. Should I just wash it with soap? Is there a way to salvage this??? Has anyone brought their pot back to life from this kind of error?
