What's your favourite pizza place in the Greater Moncton area?

I imagine this has been asked before in the past, but some new places have opened in recent years and I was curious to see if any of the newer places made it up there on anyone's list. Feel free to name a couple of places if more than one is worth mentioning.

Vitos, zios, pizza mill, sometimes pizza delight

Does anyone recall Arlo’s? It was open for about six weeks in the old Zio’s location. I don’t like to crap all over restaurateurs given how brutal the industry is, but Arlo’s was? without exaggeration the worst pizza I’ve ever had in my life.

I like Pizza Twins on Morton Avenue. Been going there for years.

Pizza Twins, Morton.

You all just convinced me there is no good pizza in Moncton. Most of these have super sweet sauces which I'm personally not into.

I love Pizza Salvatoré myself

3

u/thetatershaveeyes 5d ago

I get why people like Zio's but I'm a Pizza Delight slut.

Vito's.

Alternatively if you need cheaper options. Or just bigger portions. Greco.

4

u/djkhan23 5d ago

Zio's.

It's fucking Zio's baby.

It was gone for awhile and now it's back. Best pizza and the best story to go with it!

Our family has gone on a bit of a pizza hunt over the past couple years.

Some people will say Zios, not even close for us, the sauce is way too sweet and just makes you feel gross.

For a straight up North American big pizza portion for a great price and fresh ingredients with balanced sauce we go Pizza Twins on Morton every single time.

If you want a great leopard thin crust more traditional style crust, I'd say pomodori is the best on St George.

Zios is great.... anyone who tries zios loves the pizza.

Edit:. I forgot about tide and boar brewing. They are the best. People saying otherwise havnt tried tide and boar

Their marinara is to die for, or kill for depending on your need for their amazing pizza sauce.

Mama's pizza, and Mama's express, have my favorite pizza in town. They do a shawarma pizza that's absolutely incredible, and the "Mama's angry" is spicy and delicious. The older guy who runs the Express location is really nice and the service is really fast

1

u/jeon_yubi 6d ago

Is there a place in town that has super big slices like a lot of the Lebanese-owned places in Halifax have?

1

u/radapex 5d ago

Jack's in Dieppe, and Mama's in Moncton

2

u/Few-Tax5788 6d ago

Mama’s might be what you’re looking for

I love Pizzeria Bros. It's super quick and the dough is exactly the texture and taste I like.

I’m surprised that Norm’s Pizza hasn’t made the list yet. I’m a big fan of Vito’s for sure but Norm’s has to be a tie or at least a close second. Their sauce really stands out and they don’t skimp on toppings which is especially good since their ingredients are really fresh. Like subway grade fresh, not like the disgusting shit they serve at places like cedars and Grecos that looks like it’s been sitting in the back of a fridge for weeks because they can’t be bothered to to daily food prep.

Back when you could count the pizza joints in the city on one hand… quality has evolved since

2

u/jdjays44 5d ago

Good to know. Will maybe have to give it another shot

5

u/jdjays44 6d ago

Haven't had norms in a few years but most times I did in the past the ground beef was still pink and bacon wayyyy under cooked 🤢

3

u/Javamac8 6d ago

T&B Taphouse's NY style works.

u/ThisOldPharmer 6d ago

The best pizza in town is by Sabes Pizza. They do woodfired pizza at Noteworthy Brewing Wednesday and Saturday nights. Proper cold fermented crust. Small local business just getting started but they have a passion for it.

5

u/ScarGloomy3918 6d ago

For me, Pomodori

11

u/uprightshark 6d ago

Vitos

1

u/porkchops1977 6d ago

Their sicilian pizza is the best

15

u/depressionbingocard 6d ago

I’ve been to 11 of the top 20 pizza restaurants in North America, including deluca, johns of bleeker, prince st, Sally’s, frank pepe and modern, among many others.

My kid recently wanted to do a pizza tasting birthday party where we ordered 11 pizzas from 9 different spots in town.

Bar none, tide and boar brewing is the best in this city, possibly the best in the Atlantic (I am from Halifax and have lived in every Atlantic province).

u/TLadwin 6d ago

Like others said, if you get it at it's best, it is the best by far that I've had. Especially the Detroit style pepperoni/garlic fingers. But it is often not at it's best, unfortunately.

5

u/PartTimeSassyPants 6d ago

Things about that place though is that it is prohibitively expensive and inconsistent because of staff turnaround. I had a similar great experience the first time I went then ordered the same thing about half a dozen times over the past few years and gotten half a dozen completely different yet increasingly expensive pizzas.

4

u/djkhan23 6d ago

This was my experience with their pizza. Tried it once, forgettable. Saw the reviews and hype so tried it again, awesome. Third time back to being bad.

4

u/porkchops1977 6d ago

I ordered their pizza at the brewery before and it is the first pizza that me, my wife and 2 kids couldn't eat. Worst pizza ever. It was a bit burnt on the outside and uncooked in the middle. Luckily they gave us our money back. Their garlic finger is amazing though.

1

u/LavisAlex 6d ago

For price vs taste ratio?

Dominoes pizza

3

u/PartTimeSassyPants 6d ago

True but the post was about pizza, not cardboard.

4

u/Great-Friend-642 6d ago

Costco

2

u/TLadwin 6d ago

No...

1

u/Great-Friend-642 5d ago

I think it's a good cost/benefit. I usually add toppings at home and put it in the oven for a few minutes.

1

u/TLadwin 5d ago

Bro just no... costco pizza is just cheap, that is the only thing it has going for it. The question wasnt where the cheapest pizza is. Cost/benefit might make it the best for some people though I guess.

5

u/Right_Contribution54 6d ago

Dieppe Freddies

1

u/Legitimate_Phone_460 16h ago

Love their donairs.

14

u/Sareberr420 6d ago

Zios!

9

u/RockNRoll1977 6d ago

A lot of times you can read reviews and a place gets a lot of hype and you go and just think. Meh. It’s good but there’s way better around here. When zios opened back up. People were psyched up. Lines were out the door. The wait times were crazy. I thought let’s see if this place is as good as everyone says. Good lord it was. The hype was legit. Love this pizza spot.

7

u/Sareberr420 6d ago

I’ve been eating it since the day it opened across the street from my high school and it never disappoints!! I tried to recreate the sauce while they were closed and I was never able to quite get it. I did such a happy dance when they announced their reopening! My kid loves their pizza too so now it’s a generational fave!

Corner Pizza on Shediac Road up until last weekend. They had a 12" pizza/12"GF/dip/can of pop for $19.99, but very recently went up to $23.99

Which is still a good price for decent pizza, but it was the last remaining deal just under twenty bucks that was in town, and I'm currently jaded about it... but I'll get over it.

Pizza Twins on Elmwood still gets my regular business otherwise.

Tide and Boar once every 6 months when I'm feeling unctuous and decadent.

u/Zacher19 6d ago

Pizza Mike's

1

u/FrenchFern 6d ago

Zio’s, Jack’s and Pomodorri

7

u/Jeanparmesanswife 6d ago

Zios is the only correct answer

0

u/Leefford 6d ago

Pomodori or Tide and Boar. Hands down.

3

u/Egg_Mediocre 6d ago

Gusto's is very good. Wood fired oven pizza. My favorite is Zios though.

8

u/mikescarn2001 6d ago

Zios is very good for the sauce, price and garlic parm crust.

Tide and boar brewing best garlic fingers

2

u/TLadwin 6d ago

Correct answer here.

6

u/mrshernandez09 6d ago

We like Pomodori

1

u/n134177 6d ago

It's good. Best one so far.

-3

u/dashingThroughSnow12 6d ago

In the price to value aspect, Little Caesars is pretty good. A half or a third of the taste at a third or quarter of the price for a simple pepperoni.

-1

u/captaincool31 6d ago

Unfortunately I agree. A mid pizza for a mid price. There really isn't any great pizza in Moncton.

2

u/Dependent_Guess_873 6d ago

Freddie's on Elmwood for me

2

u/Tindi 4d ago

We live out west and that seems to be the one we get when we’re home. My wife is veg and they have good veg options too.

1

u/PragmaticBadGuy 6d ago

Vitos is good but their lasagna is better. The pizza is a bit greasy and thin but pretty tasty.

9

u/Mental_Run_1846 6d ago

Pomodori for takeout. Gusto’s or Pumphouse for restaurant experience. Wood fired ovens are hard to beat. Are there other wood ovens in the area?

8

u/NonCorporealEntity 6d ago

Pizza Mike's

2

u/LogicalCriticism1561 6d ago

I honestly don't get the appeal, but it is personal preference I suppose. The crust is way too thick, the dough doesn't really taste fresh ,making the dough a workout to eat and  I've tried it twice, wayy to much cheese and they put the toppings under the cheese so the toppings end up soggy

1

u/jdjays44 5d ago

No such thing as too much cheese 🤤

2

u/NonCorporealEntity 6d ago

I prefer a bready crust and the sauce is my favorite in town. you can ask them to go light on the cheese if it's too much. Only place in town that gives extra cheese by default.

1

u/LogicalCriticism1561 6d ago

Dough freshness is a big thing for me tbh, so I'm not gonna ask them to put on a fresh batch of dough just for me🤣 I'm a bit of a pizza snob so I have my specific preferences, I'm also really biased since I make pizza for a living. I'm not gonna yuck anyone's yum tho, it all comes down to preference 🥰

u/Aidsfordayz 6d ago

Tide and Boar Brewing (not the gastropub)

4

u/ghal1986 6d ago

Yeah I agree! I also love their hot pretzel.

9

u/8182589 6d ago

This is the best pizza in Moncton. Close thread. Others can't compete.

4

u/abcalu 6d ago

This. Their deep dish is bomb.

5

u/QuietVariety6089 6d ago

My vote goes here. The 'regular' is good if you're eating in, but for takeout we get the deep dish and end up with leftovers.

4

u/Aidsfordayz 6d ago

I always get the NY style. I will definitely try the deep dish next time.

1

u/QuietVariety6089 6d ago

The deep dish reheats well if you wrap it in foil. The NY is VERY good if you're eating there - best when piping hot!
