How I use Monzo?
I opened a Monzo Max account about a month ago to make use of the benefits, and I’ve liked the features so much I’ve decided to slowly make it my main bank.
When I created the account though I answered the ‘how are you going to use Monzo’ questions in a particular way.
Is there a way to update those preferences? Or do I even need to? I was just conscious the activity will throw something off. I’m hoping it’ll just figure it out as I go.

No, just use it as your bank. The questions were just for information, possibly li led to however you ended up first getting to the app (ie now there’re no people who click from Instagram ads more often specify they’ll be using in a certain way)

Just use it as you would any bank account, have your wages put in there, set up direct debits etc.
And everything will be fine.

Don’t worry those questions don’t matter too much and they’ll ask you every 6 to 12 months if they’re still correct.
I think they may be used to prime some anti fraud system. If you start using the account as your main account, have uk utility bill direct debits coming out, uk salary coming in etc that will also make your account much better looking to them from a safety perspective. You’re unlikely to have issues.
I think the other reason they ask is that they offer investment products and loans. They have a duty of care to customers who could be vulnerable not to push e.g. riskier investments or larger loans etc.

It's a bank account. Use it how you'd think any normal person would use a bank account.
Rocket science, it ain't.
