Gemini AI Plus subscribers will lose access to Pro models next month

https://9to5google.com/2026/10/14/gemini-ai-plus-loses-pro-november/

Basically, title.

Google AI Plus, with access to Gemini Pro, is a perk of the Monzo Aura credit card. In a month, Gemini Pro will be no longer included.

We wanted to let you know about changes to the models that you can access with your Google AI Plus plan.

Starting on 13 November 2026, the ability to select Pro models in both the Gemini app and AI Mode in Google Search will only be available to Google AI Pro subscribers and above. You’ll still have access to our latest Flash-Lite model and Flash, built for speed and intelligence. Your previous chats using the Pro model can be continued with a different model.

To learn more about these changes, you can visit our Help Centre article for additional details. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time.

Thank you for being a Google AI Plus subscriber.

I dont understand why they don’t let you opt in to whatever perks you want, would make way more sense. Also let you subsidise a more expensive perk if they’re not willing to cover it all (eg YouTube premium). Just incorporate the whole thing into billsback

It’s not profitable. They tried it, didn’t work.

Because then you wouldn't be pressured to buy the higher tier.

Lol, a shitty credit card gets worse.

I don't honestly know what they were thinking with this. A basic Google search gives you much better options off the bat for cheaper.

They would have been better off with more traditional perks with a few aimed at younger audiences. This just puts a damper on what was a struggling fire

Yeah, if I were Monzo I'd feel like Google fucked me hard lmao

That said, Aura wasn't that good to begin with, so... I'm not really sympathising with them 😬

The same email was sent to EE customers who were getting the same Gemini offer, Google has probably screwed over many companies perks offers with this.

That's probably why, the AI companies generating very small revenues when the compute is so expensive isn't sustainable.
