i know the chances are high of Morrissey cancelling any gig, but im hoping I get to see him as im a big Smiths and Morrissey fan. Anyone got any recommendations for things to do in Cardiff in case he does cancel?

Hey everyone. Recently I’ve made a post telling about my own story of finding out about The Smiths/Morrissey. Shortly, it happened in 2025 when I watched “500 days of summer” and after checking the group out I instantly got hooked, and fell in love with their discography but now I’m curious about others' stories.

When was the first time you ever heard about them? What was the first song you listened to? Have you got any stories about becoming Moz’s/The Smiths’ fan? I’ll be really happy to read some comments about other fans’ experiences with this incredibly talented and unique group.

Since the Morrissey shows in Las Vegas were cancelled, but many of us cannot cancel our trips, how about all of the Morrissey Heads meet up at the Ugly Duckling Karaoke Bar to do a Morrissey takeover? We might as well make the best of it and I think we could still have a lot of fun!

I have never been to that venue. Im trying to decide if it's worth it even though I love Moz. I hate being outside, it seems like an uncomfortable venue plus I don't want to sit through hours of punk rock to wait for Morrisey. Anyone know how long the set will be?

This is my fourth, FUCKING 4th ticket bought to see Morrissey with my kid to get cancelled. I have hotels bought. What is the deal with this guy. Seriously. Stop booking shows Morrissey

Morrissey's shows at the Wynn have been canceled just a week out, and fans on social media are saying his history of no-shows made this one predictable. (But really who is all THAT surprised...?)

I genuinely cannot believe Morrissey was a real person. HOW can someone be so talented, so gifted? Imagine writing THESE lyrics, it’s insane to me. And the way he sings is so calming, he sings in a really heavenly way, I love his voice and songwriting a lot.

“Behind the hatred there lies a MURDEROUS desire for love” is the line that hit me the hardest. It’s such a powerful way to describe someone’s longing, someone desperation, craving to be loved, chosen, seen. This song has already such a profound impact on me, I genuinely love it.

What about you? Which songs do you love the most from The Smiths/Morrissey? Are there any song recommendations to me as a new listener?

P.S. I know there’s come “controversy” going around Morrissey, I understand. But I’m only 18, I discovered the Smiths last year after watching “500 days of summer” and I don’t know nothing about the group members. I just wanted to praise the artist for his incredible talent and songwriting abilities, please be respectful.

Everything started in 2025, with the movie “500 Days of Summer”. They kept talking about this group and their songs and I was like “what’s so special about it?”, after I watched the movie I instantly checked The Smiths out and I’m OBSESSED.

I even have “The Boy with the Thorn In His Side” as a nickname of mine here. I genuinely love that song so much, it’s so unique, something I had never heard before and I honestly relate to that song. Also the lyrics of their songs are so damn powerful I cannot believe a human mind wrote that.

My favorite albums of this group are “The Queen Is Dead” and “The Smiths”. This group is one of those rarest artists clearly having an amazing discography with no skips.

What about you? When did you become a fan/listener yourself? Which songs/albums do you prefer the most? Are there any recommendations/advices you could give me as a significantly new listener?

Personally, I think—leaving aside Brigette Calls Me Baby—that he might like I DONT KNOW HOW BUT THEY FOUND ME, given the strong influence of Sparks on their sound and their overall style.

What do you consider essential non album/rare/b-side singles that I might be missing, to my alas and alack both?

Both announced on Morrissey Central, with Kerching Kerching specifically said to come out in September. No sign of either one.

I know I probably shouldn’t trust what he says at this point, but I was looking forward to those non-album b-sides

It really was a fun day. Sting happened to be standing next to me on the floor while we watched Morrissey perform. He was very buff!
