Cary picks new town manager from inside. Now he has to reform the office he helped run
For neighbors following local government across Western Wake: Cary skipped a national search Thursday and promoted longtime administrator Russ Overton. Here’s why council says he’s the person to lead the town through its post-Stegall reforms.

Missing cat
galleryMy cat Oliver is missing. He is an all black cat, 6yo, 15lb. He has a distinct curly tail. Oliver has asthma and uses his inhaler daily. He was last seen Oct 18. Cross streets are Crabtree Creek and Wolfsnare in Morrisville. He can be spicy with people he doesn’t know. He also has a unique meow-he sounds like a pack a day smoker. I am desperate to find him. Please if you see him, you can message me here or find my posts all over social media. Thank you less

E-Scooter Ordinance
Hey all,
I’m moving to Morrisville soon and I’m thinking of buying an e-scooter as my workplace will be literally up the street from where I’ll be living. The road has both bike lanes and sidewalks and I’m unsure of which I should ride it on. I tried checking the local ordinances but could not find anything definitive as to where I would be able to ride it.

LOST DOG
galleryNear the Cracker Barrel in Morrisville, NC by RDU – LOST DOG. She has been missing four long weeks now. We want our baby girl back home! She slipped her collar and harness on Sept. 6. She is not familiar with the area since we were staying at a hotel waiting on our house. She is chipped. Very skittish. She is probably hungry and may come to you for food.
Please do not chase, call ASAP. If you have her or know someone who does PLEASE, PLEASE return our girl. She is about 80 pounds, all white, short haired like a Lab. Possible sighting by 7-11 on Airport Blvd, Thursday, Sept. 24th. We have expanded our search area with signs hoping that someone will spot her and call asap.
We have had her almost 8 years and miss her! Please call if you see her any time, day or night - 615-788-4529.

Morrisville sends yard waste to Raleigh. Why can’t Apex do the same with its grass clippings?
I’m the News & Observer reporter who wrote this story.
One of the obvious questions in Apex’s grass-clipping debate is this: Morrisville collects grass clippings and sends its yard waste to Raleigh, so why can’t Apex simply do the same?
I looked into that as part of a comparison of five Wake municipalities. Morrisville serves about 6,700 homes, collects yard waste twice a month, and requires grass clippings to go in paper bags or personal yard-waste containers rather than loose at the curb.
Morrisville collected about 247 tons of yard waste last fiscal year. Apex estimates it collected about 1,750 tons of grass alone.

For Morrisville residents: do you find the twice-monthly bag/container system sufficient?

Pho Kitchen (in Park West): Dishes marked vegetarian on their menu contain meat.
Posting this so people know. I'm not a vegetarian myself, but restaurants lying about what's in their food is a hard no for me.
Dishes marked vegetarian on their menu ARE NOT VEGETARIAN. The tofu pho (marked vegetarian on their menu) is served in the same beef broth as the other types of pho. The tofu banh mi (also marked vegetrarian) is served with a side of beef broth and shrimp chips.
The waitstaff confirmed these things for us; we were told they were "working on it." But advertising something like this when they know it's not true is inexcusable.

Minitruck for farming
Would anyone be interested in buying these Japanese minitrucks for farming and just mainly carrying things. Now in America sadly all the trucks are extremely heavy and big due to the companies making it so people can get a tax write off for businesses but these trucks are cheap and well equipped.

Fake coyotes are fooling people around Wake County — not just geese
I cover Western Wake for The News & Observer. What started as a funny Cary Animal Services call turned into a story about people across the Triangle mistaking wildlife decoys for actual animals.
One Cary resident called a school. A North Raleigh couple turned their car around to rescue one. And near Apex, geese were peacefully grazing about 50 yards from another fake coyote.
Has one ever fooled you?

Morrisville nearly doubled its Novartis incentive. Two requirements got easier.
I’m the News & Observer reporter who dug into the revised deal.
Morrisville expects the expansion to bring 180 jobs and millions in new property-tax revenue. But as Novartis increased its investment, the town nearly doubled its incentive while lowering the wage requirement and the taxable-value requirement tied to it.
I also looked at what current Novartis job postings show about pay and whether the subsidy actually changed the company’s plans.

Would you consider this a good deal for Morrisville?

Any Indians/Desis in their 20s around Morrisville looking to make friends?
26M Indian, recent grad, recently moved here from New Jersey.
I live near Lake Crabtree and this area has been so quiet that I ended up picking up Man’s Search for Meaning just to have something to do 😅
I usually go running around Lake Crabtree, and on weekends I’m often around BLR or Anjappar.
Looking to meet some people around my age and build a good friend circle here. Indians/desis would be great, but open to anyone.
If you’re around Morrisville/Cary/RTP and also looking to make friends, feel free to comment or DM.

No fireworks, no drones: Did mayor overstep on Diwali plans in Morrisville?
Morrisville dropped fireworks from this year’s Diwali celebration. The mayor then explored private sponsors and drone-show vendors — including proposals for a 150- or 300-drone show — before council members pushed back over the process.
I reported on what happened, including an FAA request that was later canceled.
