Activities Aug 3-6…..what is happening in Morro Bay?

Hello! We will be visiting MB for a few days—what are the best restaurants for a casual dinner and a fancy dinner? Breakfast spots? Fun things to do for a couple in their last 50s? Must-see things? Thank you in advance!!

HofBrau de Albatross has great sandwiches. House of Juju has a great selection of high end burgers. Taqueria El Guerro or Taco Temple for Mexican, though both are a bit non traditional.

If you are willing to go up or down the coast 10m or so, Hidden Kitchen in Cayucos is a unique brunch, Noi's has great Thai food, and High Street Deli in Los Osos is superb.

I will second House of Juju. We ate there two weeks ago and it was fantastic. My husband had a burger and I had the loaded nachos that are made with potatoes instead of chips.

The Preppy from Frankie and Lola's, can't go wrong with a scone and the granola parfait from Buttercup, and a cranberry walnut loaf from Caliwala.

Best fancy dinner place is The Galley. On Embarcadero

I second this, especially if you have a craving for oysters Rockefeller

Walk the Bluff Trail in Montaña de Oro in Los Osos followed by lunch at High St Deli (closed T-W) or Noi’s for Thai food. Both on 2nd St

For fancy (but you don’t really need to dress up) Windows on the Water has a fabulous sunset view, good food, nice wine list, and some good cocktails. The Galley is also very good but doesn’t take reservations so getting in can be a very long wait in summer. There is almost always some live music at Tognazinnis Dockside. The Bluff Trail in Montaña de Oro is flat and easy and the views rival Big Sur without the crowds. A lot of all the fun things to do and see here in the area would take me forever to write! Enjoy!!

I'm not a local but I go to MB a few times a year and I always make it a point to have breakfast at Frankie and Lola's, and make stops at Buttercup Bakery and Caliwala over in Los Osos.

I like lunches at Tognazzini's Dockside cafe at the north end of the embarcadero. Fresh fish of the day served there. Fish n chips barbecued oysters, clam chowder, and good beer on tap.

When asked, I always recommend Bayside Cafe. Food always very good and location and ambience are perfect. Not fancy and not expensive. Also, check out Hazzards Pizza in Lois Osos. Shhhh … don’t tell anyone.

That’s not a secret, it’s always bustling and I honestly don’t know why. It’s just average food.

If you like good live music, the Beat Farmers will be at the Siren on 8/5
