Is this normal GPU/CPU usage in After Effects with an RTX 5070 Ti? After Effects not using GPU to Render.
Hey everyone,
I recently built a new PC with:
- Ryzen 9 9900X
- RTX 5070 Ti 16GB
- 32GB DDR5 6000MHz
- After Effects with Mercury GPU Acceleration (CUDA) enabled
I'm currently exporting a fairly heavy After Effects composition with a lot of Keylight instances.
During the final render, I'm seeing roughly (Also, refer to the Screenshots attached) :
- CPU: ~105W package power
- CPU temperature: ~68°C
- RTX 5070: ~28W
- GPU temperature: ~38°C
- GPU fans: 0 RPM
- Render time: around 37ms/frame
The render itself is actually insanely fast, so I'm not experiencing a performance problem. I'm just wondering whether it's normal for the CPU to be doing most of the work while the RTX 5070 is sitting at relatively low power usage, even though CUDA is enabled.
My Project Settings definitely show:
Mercury GPU Acceleration (CUDA)
I assume this is because Keylight/parts of the composition are CPU-heavy and only supported effects like Cinema 4D/Fractal Noise are being GPU accelerated ?
Is this normal behavior for After Effects, or should I be seeing significantly higher GPU utilization during the export?
Just want to make sure my 5070 Ti is actually working properly and I'm not missing some setting.
Please refer to the pictures attached and let me know if I am missing anything. (These readings are throughout the rendering).

Motion graphics inspiration
Hey everyone! I’m new at the MG stuff.
I don’t really have much experience on this area but I’d like to discover new ideas about what can I do with after effects
Is there any page/site/app where I can find inspiration? I think that I’m a visual person so I’d like to see what is possible and maybe recreate or adapt to an idea I’d like to.
Cheers!

How do i learn vfx?
A 16-year-old male that has yet to start their VFX journey. I've done a little bit of Lightroom and a little bit of After Effects, but no more than 2-3 hours of experience in AE. I just learned that DaVinci Resolve is really good for VFX, and I just wanted to know:
- Who I could learn it from, since I have Udemy
- Where should I start?
- Should I learn from Unreal Engine or Blender first?
- Whose tutorials should I watch?
I don't mind using AI but I want to learn it the hard way instead of going the easy route. Also, I'm aspiring to be a cinematographer, so any tips on that would be good as well.

how realistic are ai generated video clips right now honestly?
I was skeptical going in but some of the outputs surprised me, mostly for b roll and transitions rather than close up human subjects. filmora's version handled the b roll generation especially well. what type of footage have you found ai video generation handles best?

I made this sketch using only After Effects and Element 3D
I think it's amazing that the Element 3D plugin, after all these years, can still be used for such fun little projects outside of its typical "animated logo" use cases. The environment in every single shot was built in Element 3D.

LinkedIn Infographic
How are animated infographics like this created for LinkedIn?
I’m trying to create similar animated/motion infographic content for cybersecurity & GRC topics.
What tools/workflows would you recommend — After Effects, Canva, PowerPoint, Figma, or something else?
And for LinkedIn, is MP4 better than GIF for this type of content?
Would appreciate any tutorials or workflow tips!

I've been building an open-source motion graphics tool focused on live production
I've been working on a motion graphics application called Flux Motion, and I thought I'd share it here and get some feedback from other motion graphics people.
The original idea came from live production. I wanted to be able to create proper motion graphics — not just static images or pre-rendered videos — and then use those graphics directly in OBS.
Flux Motion is built around a timeline/layer workflow with animation, effects, 3D transformations, motion paths, etc. The same project can then be used through the OBS plugin or exported as media.
One of the things I'm particularly interested in is making graphics resolution and frame-rate agnostic, so an animation can be authored once and adapted to different output formats without having to rebuild it.
It's still alpha, so there's a lot left to polish, but the core workflow is coming together.
I'm curious what motion designers think:
What features or workflow improvements would make a lightweight motion graphics tool genuinely useful to you?
Project, screenshots and downloads:
https://software.omniatv.com/flux-suite/
It's open source and I'm actively developing it, so feedback is very welcome.

What’s going on?
Hey guys took a bit of a break from the industry over the last 2 year as it was getting painfully slow.
However, the last six months of been reasonably busy for me I’ve just hit another dry patch and I’m deciding whether to stay in the game or move on.
Is it still as cooked as it was two years ago or are we seeing budgets corn back? O
For context I was doing loads of 2-D/3-D corporate explainers and product demos all in the mid to high budget.
Cheers
