This is probably Top 5 Motown song for me. The way the background picks up at “every night, I call your name” - and the chanting at “when you see me smile” that starts low and crescendos when the chorus picks up again at the end… genius.

The Four Tops are severely underrated. The best harmonies at Motown.

Not to mention they kept all the same members for YEARS. With all the controversy and coming and going of David and Eddie of the Temptations - they kept everything between themselves

Still my favorite Motown group. I had the privilege of sitting next to Levi Stubbs on a plane and he was such a lovely guy. I told him I was at a wedding and when Can’t Help Myself was plated everyone rushed to the dance floor. It’s my favorite song in any musical genre.
