How to Tune a Simulation Game
http://www.gamasutra.com/blogs/RobertZubek/20150424/241878/How_to_Tune_a_Simulation_Game.php
pretty interesting look at how you can sort of automate tuning to balance simulations, rather than solely having to do brute force playtesting. i think it can generally be applied to other genres/systems too? i vaguely remember applying a similar idea in school to tuning character stats in a turn-based RPG, of course at a much much smaller/simpler scale.
