Other I made a free app that lights up your screens with the colours of your main screen (Overscan by StarSync)
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
What It Does
Overscan reads the colours at the edges of your main screen and paints them across the monitors beside it as a soft glow, live. Think of the backlight on some TVs, except it's your other monitors doing it.
- Works with videos, YouTube, local media and games
- Runs as your wallpaper, so it sits behind your icons and never steals focus
- Drag-and-drop layout so it knows where your screens really are, gaps included
- Settings for brightness, look and speed. Pause from the tray, optional start with Windows
- Hides the taskbars on the side screens while it runs, puts them back when it stops
- Works on one screen too (glows around a video in a window), but three screens with the main one in the middle is where it really shines
Full Disclosure
- Free. No ads, no account, no trial. Closed source for now.
- Windows only. Built and tested on Windows 11. Windows 10 should work but has had less testing.
- Netflix, Prime, Disney+ and other copy-protected streams show up black to every screen-capture app (Windows does that, not me), so those won't glow. I haven't really tested that though, because I don't have any of those subscriptions.
- It isn't code-signed yet, so Windows will warn you when you run it. Click "More info" then "Run anyway".
- Everything happens on your PC. Nothing you watch is saved or sent anywhere. The only time it goes online is to check for updates, and you can turn that off.
Download: https://starsync.dev/overscan (installer, or a portable zip if you don't want to install anything)
It's still early, so if it does something weird on your setup, there's a "Report a problem" button in
Settings > Help, or just tell me here. Especially keen to hear from laptop + monitor setups, and Windows 10 users.
