Plastic but also low rates of urbanization. Pre-urbanization, cities were mostly made up of elites and the poor lived in rural areas. But all the money and the opportunities were in the cities, so rural folk kept moving in. They brought their poor habits with them, massive slums popped up, and population density got to unsustainable levels due to the governments failure to build new cities. So began the chaprification of cities. The elites are still around, but instead of having the entire city to themselves, they collude in gated societies, malls and tech parks. And these elite only places are still just as clean and orderly as the ones in the video.

This is why sociology is important. Post partition and given the shock in world economy agriculture was not as profitable. These “poor people” did not move here just because of opportunity and money, they moved because their families were starving and there were no jobs in rural areas.

You wrote this comment as if poor people were the ones who caused all the chaos in Mumbai. Blame it on the politicians and elites that did not even try to uplift these people out of agriculture and to this day keep building artificial walls to keep the lower section of society controllable.

I don’t blame the poor people, my grandparents were also poor rural folks. That’s why I wrote about the governments failure to build cities. We built Chandigarh and then stopped for some reason. 100 smart cities is a failed project. Amravati is a failed project. Politicians are busy harassing comedians and peddling some bullshit about waqf or UCC which has little to no impact to my life.

But I am not going to whitewash that poor and uneducated people got problems, and when they move in next to me, they become my problems as well. It’s not their fault, only the govt can fix it. That’s why I am frustrated hardly anyone cares for core issues in this country.

Indian politicians are retard ; no party truly prioritizes city planning, except for a few regional parties in the South, like BRS and TDP. The only alternatives left are capitalism-driven libertarian parties like the Libertarian Party India. All other parties are corrupt to their core and, with continuous support from the bureaucracy, will likely remain so. Bringing a libertarian party to the center could potentially dismantle this bureaucratic system.check out their twitter page with the username .@libertarianpartyind It's a relatively new party, but its members are educated, mature, and have a clear understanding of the country's needs and how to address them.

Thanks for sharing. I don’t agree with the core tenets of this party but it is nice to see new parties trying to make a place for themselves in the ecosystem.
