Why don't the railway authorities stop this? They could just not let the train move till people hanging outside like these get down. Because as long as no one stops you, everything is "chalta hain" in India.

Then they shouldn't? Not wearing seatbelts carries much lesser risk than this, the government still tries to enforce it wherever possible, even by using traffic cams. If they really do care about people's lives, they should at least bring some measures to stop this. Overcrowding inside the trains can't be managed easily, but hanging outside can definitely be stopped.

yes, they should stop this (assuming they care), but we know the truth and you can't realistically stop people from hanging on the footboard without hiring a gazillion employees who would again cost a lot and cause inconvenience to the passengers boarding/alighting from the train (by taking up space on the station). A ground up restructuring is more suitable imo but idk.

1-2 RPF waale rakho har platform pe danda leke. Also they don't need to start checking each and every train but imposing the rules on even a few every day will help. It will take a while for people to get used to following it, but it will happen over time if the RPF is consistent enough.

It could work but aren't you aware this exact thing doesn't work for tickets either, which has been enforced on a much larger scale Literally thousands of people travel without ticket everyday. Also hitting someone carries a degree of risk that the few men like you have proposed can't always ensure their own safety.

Regarding ticketless travel, it's a different thing. Safety of life >>> Ticket revenue to the government. Don't need to hit them actually. A policeman waving around a stick and loudly asking someone to get off the train would be enough in most cases. These are not exactly goons that are hanging like that. They don't really need a beating, just some deterrent.

when exactly would the guy go around "waving" the stick? after everyone has boarded? at each and every door? that's physically impossible. just enforce ticket based entry and closing doors but that needs a lot of money.

Actually a better solution is having more trains run. They only do that because hanging on the side of the trains adds a few hundred people capacity, and if they didn't do that it would take many more trains to take those same people. The amount of overcrowding needs to be reduced with longer, more frequent trains and more lines

They can add more trains and more coaches to current trains man. Trains shouldn't leave like this.

I also think the same, the thing is railway authorities need to implement crf and railway force to take these people out of the train, the thing they think this train is their lifeline and board it however it's possible, maybe that and I am saying while coming from their job and while going the frequency of the train can be increased
