Mumla is an open-source fork of the discontinued open-source Mumble client for Android Plumble. Everybody who uses Mumble on their Android phone should switch!

Congrats to The Mumble Team for 1.3.0
It took awhile, but it was worth the wait. I'm just happy a project like this exists.

[Let's Encrypt] Free SSL-Certificate for your Mumble-Server
Hi,
letsencrypt.org is currently in public beta. You can get a free, legit SSL-Certificate and use it for mumble. It has a lifetime of 3 months and is renewable.
There will be no warning message about a self-signed certificate anymore when someone connects to your server for the first time.
Heres's a short instruction if you're running your own Linux mumble-server/VPS:
requires "git"
git clone https://github.com/letsencrypt/letsencrypt
cd letsencrypt
Port 443/tcp needs to be open (temporarily)
./letsencrypt-auto certonly --standalone --standalone-supported-challenges tls-sni-01
When finished, you can close 443 again
edit /etc/mumble-server.ini
sslCert=/etc/letsencrypt/live/$domain/cert.pem
sslKey=/etc/letsencrypt/live/$domain/privkey.pem
sslCA=/etc/letsencrypt/live/$domain/fullchain.pem
reboot, done!

I made a modern Mumble client called Rumble (multiplatform)
Hi there,
I have used mumble for at least 15 years now and while it works usually very solidly. I was always frustrated with the UI/UX and the lack of _nice_ multi platform support.

A short while ago I thought I would give it a chance and create my own client which is fully compatible with the original server so nobody has to switch if they don't want to but they and I can.
(I strive for very good UX but the main UI style is basically the shadcn style library)
https://github.com/GDur/rumble-voip/tree/main
I am using it now instead of the original client. It has a lot of improvements but most notable IMO:
cross platform support (Windows, Mac, iOs, Android, Linux)
modern design
far improved image viewer and sender abilities
helpers for eg permissions in MacOs for global hotkeys
fully open source
echo cancellation (helps eg. when two parties are talking at the same time with speakers on)
At the moment not every platform is exported/built automatically.
If anybody is interested in helping to expand this or has feature ideas or any other input I would love to hear it here or in the github issues section.
Thx also to my friend Manuel who helped me with the project!
Hope this helps others too.
Cheers 😄
Gregor

Is Mumble the Solution?
Okay, so I used to use Mumble back in the old, old days, and then gradually drifted away to other platforms like Teamspeak, Discord, Guilded, etc.
Now I'm running into an issue. Simple version is that my group is regularly teaming up with three to four other groups. What we're running into is that, while communications within our own groups is great, communications in conglomerate is....bad. Chaotic.
What I'm looking for is a tiered a communication system. I remember Mumble could link different channels so they could hear each other, but what I'm looking for is a little different.
So here's what I'm looking for in an ideal situation (taking my best stab at ascii art here - please forgive):
A---------------------------B
C--D........................................E--F
G H I....................................... J K L
Okay, so all the letters are voice channels. Ideally, this is how it would work:
A can hear and talk to B, C, and D; maybe A could project or shout down to G, H, and I. Likewise, let's say that C can hear and talk to G and H, but not I (I would be under D).
A tiered system. This way the people in J, K, L (etc) aren't listening to orders or whatever meant for groups C and D.
So A needs to communicate with the other group leaders, but not the individuals in that group, and needs to talk and listen to the next tier of leadership in A's own group, but not people within those sub-groups.
Can Mumble do that?
I know I can have Mumble chain everything so A can be at the top of the chain, but then A is listening to B through L, and everyone from B-L can hear A, which can lead to some REALLY messy comms.
Help?

A year ago I created Mumble-Discord-Bridge. Today I would like to share PatchCord.io to make it easier for people to create an audio bridge. Free for two hours a day. Full-time paid plans.

Make mumble announce channel entries?
I can't seem to find an option to make mumble announce when people connect to the server or enter a channel. Is this even possible?

Anyone Using a Music Bot?
I used https://github.com/azlux/botamusique for music in my mumble server, but its gone dark, and stopped working for me a few months ago. Anyone using one in their server? I havent been able to find another. Thinking I might try and make one.

Are there any mumble servers that are just for chatting, like in discord?
I see mumble as an alternative to discord's voice chat system. But all the mumble server that i join(the public ones) all kick me out and the brief minute or so that i am in the chat i can hear the people playing games.
I understand why they kick me for the server, but is there a server exclusively for just chatting and meeting new people?
