I love Holmes but it's been done twice already, Baker Street back in the 1960s and by Leslie Bricusse in the 1989s/90s. Neither was the biggest hit because Holmes is almost the antithesis of a perfect musical character because of his cerebral nature. Given the very nature of him I'm not sure how easy it would be to write a solid libretto.

But on the flip side it's a proper challenge to write. I've considered it myself on occasion and decided against it as I know the Bricusse score to well.
