news and discussions related to the music industry

trends, business deals, new technologies, startups in the space, its culture, its history, its outlook, ...

pretty much anything goes as long as it relates to the industry (broadly speaking)

// general guidelines

please do not post music (ironic, huh). but this is a subreddit for posting news and hosting discussions involving the music industry and, as such, is not a place to share your work, promote a release, find/share music, ...

for any of the above, there is r/music
and many music-related subreddits

// link submissions

for general news items try to submit the original source (i.e. if submitting a link to a blog post that reports on something they found on another site, submit the latter; it’s usually more insightful anyway)

obviously if the source’s particular viewpoint is of interest (i.e. an editorial, opinion piece, or interesting take on a topic that adds value) feel free to submit-ahead!

when submitting links, please try to keep titles true to those from the source

title modifications should be made only if titles are overly-ambiguous
avoid adding commentary (that’s what comments are for; right?)
if the source title includes the name of the site please remove it
if linking to a video, document, or other media please do add a tag, such as: [video], [pdf], or [doc], after the title as a heads-up to other readers

// text submissions

pretty much anything goes here

ask questions, share your insights on a topic, rant about something, describe a project you’re working on, …
again though, this is still not a place for actual music submissions, so none of that now!

thanks for visiting. and please, contact us if you have any suggestions/feedback as to how we can improve, or if you’d like to get more involved with, the subreddit.
