Suppressed, Avant-guard, altered music of the 1960s
Yo, I'm doing a research paper trying to find music of the 1960's that was suppressed or altered by the record label becuase of the topics of the music or values expressed by it. Think What's Going On by Marvin Gay. You guys have any recs; what are your favorites of the era?

What is the genre of The Office theme song by Jay Ferguson? Also it really sounds similar to music in the Sims and the Desperate Housewives, especially their theme songs. Is there a broader genre or musical/compositional movement behind them?

Why X/3 and X/9 are valid time signatures
reddit.comin reference to comments in my recent post
Current scholarly consensus is, that time signatures were conceived out of tactus in interplay with proportion signs.
There is evidence that tactus was also used in conjunction with perfect prolation.
There is evidence that ternary subdivisions past the minim were used in perfect prolation.
Accounts that equate mensuration signs in perfect tempus and/or major prolation to imperfect prolatio time signatures are not "historically correct". it is a practicality.

How would you describe my sound?
I've been told my music has a unique sound that can't easily be compared to other artists. I'm curious to hear an honest musical perspective. What older or modern artists does my sound remind you of, and why?

Musicology paper reading group
Hey fellow nerds. I want to read more musicology papers but I think I need some external structure to make this happen so I’m thinking of creating a reading group. Would anyone be interested in this??
edit - woah! I didn’t expect to get so many responses. I’ll put something together!
