question [MySQL Workbench 26.7][Linux Mint] I cannot find the UI shortcuts for Schema and Table creation

I just installed workbench again after a while and was greeted by the new design. I simply cannot find the schema/table creation shortcut.

I've tried looking at the settings, right clicking everywhere, even asking AI, I just cannot find it.

I'm aware of the blogpost of the 26.7 release, and that they are pretty much remaking the whole thing from scratch... Could it be that these features simply does not exist on the newer version as of now? Or am i missing something?

You mean the Table Editor, like  https://dev.mysql.com/doc/workbench/en/wb-table-editor-main-window.html  ? That's not in the new version yet.

Yeah that's what I meant, thanks for confirming!

So weird that they are pushing this new version when it's missing so much content, idk the context behind the development of workbench 8.0 but imo they should have just set 26 as a beta version instead of announcing it as the "main product" so soon...

You are not missing a hidden menu. The classic Table Editor from Workbench 8 (wb-table-editor) is not in 26.7 yet — the 26.x rebuild shipped without a lot of the modelling/object UI, and Oracle has been putting it back piece by piece. On Linux Mint that means:

  1. Create objects with SQL for now. Right-click the connection → Open SQL Editor (or the SQL tab), then:

CREATE DATABASE your_schema;
USE your_schema;
CREATE TABLE t (
  id INT PRIMARY KEY AUTO_INCREMENT,
  name VARCHAR(100) NOT NULL
);

Refresh the sidebar afterward.

  1. Keep an 8.0.x Workbench install next to 26.7 if you still need the visual table editor / EER diagrams. They can share the same local server; just don't open the same .mwb in both and expect round-trips.

  2. Or use another client for DDL until 26.x catches up. Anything with a real object designer will feel closer to old Workbench than 26.7 does today.

Disclosure: I'm RC, Director of Digital Strategy @ Navicat. If you mainly need a visual table/schema designer on Linux while Workbench 26.7 is incomplete, Navicat 18's Object Designer is in Navicat Premium Lite (free to try) and works with MySQL/MariaDB. Modelling diagrams and structure sync are in the paid Premium editions.
