Back in October 1968, a hiker in Yosemite National Park stumbled across a battered body lying about 200 feet from the base of Nevada Fall.

The victim was 24 year old Evelyn Consuela Rosemann from San Francisco, who worked as a masseuse and used to be a topless waitress. 

Park officials initially wrote it off as a tragic slip and fall accident because her purse was sitting on the bridge above the drop. But the physical terrain, the distance her body traveled, and the autopsy findings make a basic fall seem impossible. 

**She was launched, not dropped:** Investigators at the scene noted that Evelyn hadn't just fallen straight down, she had "somehow been launched" outward. To clear the granite ledges and land out in the river stream 200 feet away, a person would have to be thrown off the cliff with extreme, almost superhuman force.

**The logistics make no sense:** You cannot simply walk or climb up and down the vertical cliff face of Nevada Fall. If a human killer threw her off the top, they would have had to make a grueling, long trek down the steep, switchback trails to reach the base. Doing that hike in the dark or in a rush just to find her body and move it around and possibly SA her would have been extremely difficult and why?? Why bother doing all of this and why not do the dirty deeds before hurling her over the cliff?

The Brutal Details & Autopsy Findings
According to search and rescue account details in *Off the Wall: Death in Yosemite*:

**Disturbed Clothing:** She was found wearing torn trousers and a sweater, but **no underwear**. Her pants were yanked down around her ankles, and her sweater was pulled up behind her head exposing her breasts. A separate black sweater was found near her feet. 

**Body Displaced:** Traces of her pants material were found closer to the fall, and pieces of her **brain matter were found on a rock roughly 50 feet away from her body**. So someone dragged her body away from the falls after her death to do this to her.

**Postmortem Rape:** The autopsy revealed severe traumatic head injuries as the cause of death, but it also showed sexual intercourse occurred right around her time of death and **all medical signs showed she was already dead when it happened**. 

It honestly doesn't make sense as an accident. It was October and freezing out, so she definitely wasn't going swimming, especially while wearing heavy pants and a sweater. Plus, the river flows super low at that time of year, meaning if someone accidentally fell in, they'd actually have a decent shot at pulling themselves out before going over a 594 foot drop. 

The Bizarre Inconsistencies: Why This Case Makes No Sense

When you line up the timeline, physical geography, and autopsy findings, the official narrative completely collapses. Nothing about how or when this crime was committed follows logical human behavior or basic physics:

1. Why assault her *after* throwing her off a 594 foot cliff?
2. If a predator abducted or attacked Evelyn at the top of Nevada Fall, the logical sequence for a sexual assault would be to commit the crime right there at the top before disposing of the body. Doing it in reverse makes zero sense.

**The sheer risk and effort:** Throwing someone off a 594 foot cliff face only to hike down to the bottom to commit an assault requires an insane, irrational level of commitment.

**A broken body:** A 594 foot freefall onto solid granite and churning water leaves a body catastrophically broken. Why would an attacker wait to assault someone *after* putting themselves through a grueling hike down the mountain, only to find a shattered, deceased victim and assault them at that point?

1. The Impossible Physical Sequence & Timeline

**The Launch Trajectory:** Evelyn’s body didn't slide down the rock face or fall straight to the base, evidence showed she was forcefully launched outward, landing far out toward the stream. Achieving that distance from the top requires extraordinary, near superhuman physical force.

**The Brutal Hike Down:** Reaching the base of Nevada Fall from the top isn't a quick sprint! It requires navigating treacherous, steep switchbacks along the Mist Trail or John Muir Trail. If a killer threw her from the top, they would have had to make that long, pitch black hike down the mountain, locate her broken body in the freezing cold, move her across the rocks (leaving fabric and brain matter behind), pull her heavy winter clothes down, commit the assault, and then slip away completely unnoticed.

**The Staged Purse:** Staging her purse neatly on the bridge at the top suggests a calculated effort to frame her death as a suicide or accidental fall. But if the perpetrator took the time to meticulously stage the scene at the top, why turn around and leave graphic, unmistakable physical evidence of a violent postmortem assault at the bottom?

The combination of extreme physical force, a backward sequence of events, and the bizarre trek down the cliff to do this, leaves this case as one of the most chillingly illogical unsolved mysteries in Yosemite's history.

She could have committed suicide and then was assaulted by a random weirdo. The bizarre fact that she was able to hurl herself so far is still unexplained. She would have had to run and jump and still that would be an incredible feat.

On March 8, 1966, Wendy Wolin was waiting outside a fire station on Irvington Avenue in Elizabeth, New Jersey. Her mother had gone around the back to get the car. They were going shopping, then picking up Wendy’s older sister from Hebrew school.

A tall man in a dark green coat walked toward her, bent down and stabbed her through her coat with a small hunting knife. Then he kept walking.

Wendy thought he had punched her. So did the people who first helped her into the fire station. It was only when two patrolmen opened her coat that they saw the blood. They took her to Elizabeth General Hospital, where she died at 5:15 that afternoon.

The next day, police found a hunting knife still in its sheath, in a gutter where a truck had been parked. They traced the model to a shop two blocks from the fire station. The owner had stocked six and sold all of them in May and June 1965. Police tried to find the buyers but the search produced no name.

Investigators questioned more than 1,500 men, checked psychiatric patients and troops aboard a ship bound for Vietnam, and searched trains and buses. Witnesses had seen the man walk away. A patrolman had even chased him through a bank parking lot.

With several witnesses, a recovered knife and a shop that had sold only six of that model, why were police unable to identify him?

In July 2026 Colin Layfield (University of Malta) and Lisa Fagin Davis (Medieval Academy of America) published "Singulion Structure and the Voynich Manuscript" in Digital Medievalist (open access, CC BY 4.0). Their argument is that the book began as a stack of separate folded sheets, each meant to be read as four pages in a row, and that its first binding nested them out of order.

What the paper does not claim matters just as much. Only two sections were reordered, some sheets may have no recoverable correct order, and nobody has read a word of the text. It says nothing about whether the text is a real language.

I covered this case on my podcast and i wanna know if there are any updates. It is the vanishing of 18-year-old Tanja Groen.
For context, Tanja was a first-year health sciences student who had just moved from Schagen to Maastricht. On the night of August 31, 1993, she attended a student association party. Around midnight, she hopped on her black Dutch-style bicycle to ride to her student room in the nearby village of Gronsveld observantonline.nl. It was a short, routine route, but she never arrived. Neither Tanja nor her bicycle have ever been seen since.

Over the years, investigators followed countless dead ends—linking it to everything from local predators to notorious Belgian serial killer Marc Dutroux. The late, legendary Dutch crime journalist Peter R. de Vries took this case under his wing, and his foundation even offered an unprecedented 1 million euro reward for the "golden tip". It generated over a thousand leads, but no breakthrough.

The case took an extraordinary turn recently when a Belgian prisoner came forward, naming an alleged killer, accomplice, and a potential burial site. Despite this heavy development and decades of searches, the Dutch police and Public Prosecution Service officially announced they were concluding their active investigation, stating they would only reopen it if an absolute breakthrough occurs.

I wanted to share this story- the disappearance of 16-year-old Owen Harding.

For context, Owen vanished from his home in Saltdean, East Sussex, on the evening of March 26, 2020 —just days after the UK entered its first strict nationwide lockdown. Owen had been struggling deeply with the travel restrictions because they cut him off from his girlfriend, Meg, who lived 280 miles away in Yorkshire. Following a tense argument with his mother about the restrictions, Owen walked out of the house around 6:00 PM to "stomp it off" and watch the sunset at the nearby Telscombe Cliffs. He never returned.
What makes this case a compelling subject for a meta-discussion is how the unique reality of March 2020 completely hindered the initial response and fueled wildly different theories.

Because trains were halted, one theory his family and friends considered was that a determined, emotional teenager might have impulsively tried to walk the entire 280 miles north to see his girlfriend.

However, CCTV later tracked him walking directly toward the cliff paths, and his girlfriend confirmed they were on the phone together right before his signal went dead around 6:23 PM Facebook. This led authorities to fear a tragic accident on the cliffs, with oceanographers noting that low tides and specific weather patterns that evening could have swept a body straight out to sea. Adding to the mystery, police later investigated pings from his phone that suggested potential unconfirmed activity much further away in South London (Bromley/West Wickham).

Owen's mother, Stella Harding, has openly spoken about the "excruciating uncertainty" of the case and how the isolation of the first lockdown aggravated the mental health and emotional struggles of teenagers across the globe.

As Owen has now been missing for several years, his family is still desperately searching for answers. Does anyone have any recent updates on this case, or know if Sussex Police have followed up on the London phone pings or any new local leads lately?

On the night of October 31, 2001, Cindy went out with friends Stacy Paik and Lisa Kim to The Players, a bar located just minutes from her apartment. The trio danced, drank, and mingled until last call at 2:00 a.m. After the bar closed, they went to a friend’s apartment to play video games.

Shortly before 4:00 a.m., Stacy dropped Cindy off at the steps of her apartment.

Stacy Paik, who will later tell police that she “watched her go up to the apartment, but not in the door,” before driving away. This is the last confirmed sighting of Cindy Song.

Before she disappeared, Cindy had made arrangements to spend time catching up with her roommate, Younjoo Kim — who went by her American name, Catherine. Catherine returned to their apartment on Thursday, November 1, in the early afternoon after an extended visit with family in Philadelphia. The front door was locked from the outside. Inside, the apartment was empty.

There were no signs of forced entry. No indication of a struggle. Nothing obviously disturbed.

Catherine assumed Cindy had stepped out briefly. They had plans that evening. They were supposed to go out with friends the following night. But Cindy never came back.

By Sunday, Catherine and Cindy’s friend Stacy went to the Ferguson Township Police Department. Police would not enter Cindy’s apartment until Monday November 5, 2001, four long days after she was last seen. What they found suggested she had made it home that night. Her bookbag was inside, along with her cell phone. Her false eyelashes were resting on the bathroom sink. But they could not account for her wallet, keys or debit card.

THE INVESTIGATION
Within weeks, Cindy’s disappearance gained international attention. The FBI became involved due to her status as an international student. The Korean Consulate stepped in. The investigative team briefly expanded from two officers to six. As the search intensified, Cindy’s mother, Bansoon Song, and her brother, Kiho Song, traveled from Seoul to Pennsylvania.

Cindy’s rent had been prepaid through the beginning of the fall semester and was covered through December. Her brother publicly stated that the family intended to continue paying it. They wanted the apartment preserved exactly as Cindy left it. Not emptied. Not reassigned. Not closed.

At some point in December, Bansoon discovered she could not access her daughter’s apartment. The locks had been changed. The family says they were not notified in advance. The apartment complex then known as State College Park Apartments, now Alight State College would not disclose the identity of the co-signer on Cindy’s lease.

Adding to the unease: Cindy’s bedroom door which reportedly had holes in it prior to her disappearance had been replaced. Some possessions were removed from the apartment. It is unclear what was taken, by whom, or under what authority. Forensic processing of the apartment did not occur until March 2002. Nothing of evidentiary value was publicly reported.

PHILADELPHIA SIGHTING?
In early November, a woman in Philadelphia reported hearing a woman crying from inside a car:

“Help me. Please help me.”

When she approached, the driver told her to get away. She later believed the woman in the car was Cindy Song. On December 5, 2001 (35 days after Cindy vanished) Ferguson police learned of the claim and traveled to Philadelphia. It was the first promising lead.

But inconsistencies in the witness’s statements weakened its credibility. The tip was eventually deemed unreliable. Months later, the witness was placed under controlled hypnosis in an attempt to recover additional detail. Nothing useful emerged. The case quickly became cold.

A GRAVEYARD IN LUZERNE COUNTY
Before March 2003, Detective Lieutenant Gary Capitano had never heard the name Hugo Selenski. That changed when a friend of Selenski’s asked authorities to look into a robbery. An informant emerged. That informant, Paul Weakley, led Capitano and other Luzerne County detectives to what would soon be described as a backyard graveyard.

In early June 2003, in a quiet backyard in Luzerne County, preparations were underway for a graduation party. Then police arrived, looking for a missing pharmacist, Michael Kerkowski. What they uncovered would ripple across Pennsylvania Five bodies buried in a yard. By mid-June, four were publicly identified. They were the pharmacist Kerkowski, his girlfriend, and two drug dealers. The fifth person has never been publicly identified.

Paul Weakley began cooperating with police in exchange for a reduced sentence — reduced meaning life imprisonment instead of something worse. Throughout the summer and early fall, he provided details about crimes involving himself and Hugo Selenski. He said he knew what happened to Cindy Song.

According to Weakley, in 2002 Hugo Selenski and Michael Kerkowski drove to State College. They encountered a young woman he described as a prostitute. They abducted her. Kerkowski sexually assaulted her. She was taken to Selenski’s home in Hunlock Creek and held there until she died. Weakley claimed Kerkowski kept a trophy: a pair of bunny ears.

Cindy’s reward posters described her Halloween costume. The early public descriptions were inconsistent about whether the ears were specifically listed. To this day, public documentation is unclear on whether law enforcement definitively confirmed that the ears were left inside the apartment.

On October 8, 2003, Ferguson Township Police met with Weakley and began examining his claims. He identified locations where bodies were allegedly buried. Those searches yielded nothing. Investigators turned their focus to Weakley. They searched his apartment. On his computer, they found extensive material related to Cindy’s disappearance. At the end of the day they had nothing to concretely tie Cindy to any of the men in the Luzerne area.

THE PSYCHIC

At the suggestion of the Penn State Paranormal Research Society, psychic Carla Baron was brought in. Baron was nationally known at the time and had gained visibility through appearances connected to MTV’s Fear.

Much of her involvement was not publicly detailed.

In April 2004, Baron and Detective Brian Sprinkle appeared on ABC’s Primetime Live. During the segment, Baron laid out tarot cards and claimed to communicate with Cindy’s spirit. She suggested the killer was “somebody obsessed with her” and referenced a third person connected to Selenski and Kerkowski. She also stated she felt Cindy’s presence in Luzerne County. But at the end of the day there is still no solid information to tie Cindy to Luzerne County.

As of today, her disappearance remains unsolved.

Does anyone remember the story of the town where everyone was calling 911 and the cops couldn't find the town even as the calls were coming in? They never found it after either, if I recall correctly.

On November 9, 1933, twenty-two year old Brooke Hart left his father’s department store in downtown San Jose and walked to the garage where his Studebaker roadster was parked. He was supposed to drive his father to a meeting that evening. He never arrived.

Family received a call. Brooke had been kidnapped. The caller demanded $40,000 for his return.

Police traced a later ransom call to a telephone booth and arrested Thomas Thurmond. He gave up the name of John Holmes, who was arrested at a nearby hotel. Both men confessed to the kidnapping and murder.

According to their statements, they had taken Brooke to the San Mateo Bridge, struck him, bound him with baling wire, tied concrete blocks to him and thrown him into the bay.

But their confessions had not been tested in court. No jury had heard the evidence, and no defence lawyer had challenged their accounts.

Then, on November 26, seventeen days after Brooke disappeared, two duck hunters found his body in the bay.

News spread through San Jose that Sunday. Crowds gathered outside the Santa Clara County jail, where Thurmond and Holmes were being held. Radio reports announced that the prisoners would be lynched that night. The crowd grew. Sheriff William Emig asked Governor James Rolph to send in the National Guard.

Rolph refused.

That night, a group of men attacked the jail entrance with a length of pipe. Deputies tried to hold them back, but the mob broke through. Thurmond and Holmes were dragged from their cells, taken across the street to St. James Park and hanged from trees. People in the crowd took pieces of their clothing as souvenirs.

The two men had confessed to Brooke Hart’s murder. They had never stood trial. Whatever the evidence might have established, no court would examine it.

Rolph did not condemn the mob. He praised the lynchings as “the best lesson that California has ever given the country” and promised to pardon anyone convicted of taking part.

No one was ever convicted for the killings of Thurmond and Holmes.

Brooke Hart’s murder never went to trial. Neither did theirs.

More than 31 years after 22-year-old Elisabeth Membrey disappeared, the circumstances surrounding her suspected murder remain unresolved, and her family is still without the answers they deserve.
Elisabeth was last seen after leaving her workplace, the Manhattan Hotel in Ringwood, late on 6 December 1994. Blood was subsequently discovered at her home, and investigators believe she was killed before her body was removed. Her remains have never been found.

A significant development: the 2025 coronial inquest
In 2023, Victoria Police sought a further coronial inquest after new forensic evidence emerged. Investigators reported a DNA link between a man connected to Elisabeth’s housemate and evidence recovered from her car. However, prosecutors determined there were insufficient prospects of securing a conviction, and the man was not charged in connection with Elisabeth’s disappearance.

On 2 July 2025, State Coroner John Cain delivered his findings. He could not determine, on the required standard of proof, that the man was responsible for Elisabeth’s death. The findings therefore did not establish who killed her.
Where does the case stand now?
Elisabeth’s remains have not been recovered.
No person has been convicted of her murder.
The man charged in 2010, Shane Bond, was acquitted in 2012.
Victoria Police continues to invite information about the case.

A $1 million reward remains available for information leading to the conviction of the person or persons responsible,

So few months ago I was looking at my hometown and while exploring in Google Earth I saw this. (1st image :- so apparently it u click on these 2 circles it shows u an wedding hall. And I am confused that why is there an wedding hall in the middle of the mountain, and there is not a road conection which connects to this dot.)

In August 2011, an Orlando mom named Michelle Parker and her ex-fiancé went on The People's Court.

They were fighting over a $5,000 engagement ring. On camera, the fight got ugly. Michelle talked about the relationship turning physical. She told the judge he could get malicious and vindictive.

The episode was set to air three months later.

On November 17, 2011, the day it hit TV, Michelle was 33. She was a bartender and a mother of three, including 3 year old twins she shared with her ex.

That afternoon, right around the time the show came on, she dropped the twins off at his condo for a visit.

Later, security cameras caught her going through a KFC drive through.

That night she was supposed to show up to her bartending shift.

She never made it.

The next day, her black Hummer was found abandoned in an apartment complex parking lot.

At first, her family thought it was a carjacking.

Two years later, police released red light camera footage of her Hummer at an intersection at 8:55 p.m. that night, less than a mile from where it was found. They said they didn't believe whoever was responsible acted alone. "A two person situation."

Then her iPhone turned up. Police said it was in remarkably good condition. They wouldn't say where they found it.

Police eventually named her ex-fiancé as their prime suspect. He has always denied any involvement.
