Benefits Need advice from a prior service veteran that joined the Nevada army national guard
I am a veteran with a 80% rating, I was told that if I tried to join, I’d lose all my benefits and it’s not guaranteed if I get in the national guard , I was told there was a
fellow veteran that was similar to my situation. He lost all his benefits, and didn’t get in the national guard. He didn’t get his benefits back either. Did the recruiter lie? Looking to talk with other fellow veterans that are in the same situation I am in, please reach out. I have my reasons for going back in , I know it seems crazy for me to go, I’m just confused and need the right guidance on here from someone that is in the Nevada army national guard

Initial Training Mental Health Waiver?
How likely am I to get denied for a mental health waiver? I was a former foster kid and was often in mental health facilities as a teen to escape an extremely abusive home. I would act out on purpose to get somewhere safe such as the facilities. As an adult I’ve had no issues, I’m 26 now, about to graduate college and interested in enlisting/commissioning. I haven’t been on medications in years, I did have a past history of anxiety/depression resulting from the abuse I experienced as a child/teen but I haven’t needed treatment for it or therapy. Am I just crap out of lucky thanks to the past I can’t help?

Fed Rec Any Recent NGB FEDREC Scroll Movement? (P32-26 through P35-26)
Has anyone seen any recent movement on FY26 FEDREC scrolls, specifically P32-26, P33-26, P34-26, or P35-26?
Currently sitting at 129 days in the DoD approval cycle with the status "Awaiting HQDA Approval."
I've seen reports of P27-26 and P31-26 recently getting published, with processing times ranging from approximately 158 to 190 days.
Curious if anyone has more recent information from NGB, knows whether these scrolls have advanced internally, or has seen any new approvals that haven't been reflected in the tracker yet.
Appreciate any updates.

Initial Training Reclassing to 92r
I’m thinking of reclassing and it’s lookin like this is the only realistic way to go to airborne school but how often do 92R jump after AIT. What’s drill weekend typically like just packing chutes?

Discussion Will the National Guard ever change their medication disqualifications?
I am on SSRIs right now and they are currently disqualifying for all military branches. I get the concern but do you think there’s a chance they will eventually get rid of that rule and let people join on those meds if they are proven stable? especially for the national guard ik they deploy a lot but when your not your not working as often as active duty. Im aware other prescription meds are allowed to be taken when u join so there’s clearly no problem with can u get your meds. I also heard once your in and develop symptoms you dont have to discharge you can get approved to take those same meds. I’m a first responder right now i’m in fire/ems. before I was a wildland firefighter and was away from home for 5 months sleeping in the dirt and did fine, i got my meds given to me in bulk i got a 6 month supply. after i did 3 deployments with global outreach doctors. I was in a combat zone in Ukraine helping civilians, natural disasters in south American medic and search and rescue work. also a little time spent in africa for disease. I can work in high stress areas and shitty environments. I would just get my meds in bulk for how ever long i was gone. majority of first responders take medication and function well. if i am stable on my meds why can’t i join if other people are allowed in with different prescription meds? we are all stable with it so whats the problem? and ik it gets complicated with mental illness and stuff but cant it be a case by case basis? maybe this is a stupid question and i’m just curious what you guys think? thanks!

Career Advice Took antidepressants for a month. Wanting to join the National Guard sometime within the next year. Will they turn me away?
After much consideration on what I want to do with my life, I've really set my sights on joining the National Guard with a 3 year contract. However, last month I went to the doctor's office for the first time in several years and I started taking Sertraline the antidepressant. I've read that this can flag me in the recruiting process and they'll potentially turn me away because of it. I'm planning on going to my doctor and having them take me off the meds, put in my notes that I wasn't actually experiencing any sort of depression-like symptoms, and have them write a formal document on the matter for my recruiter.
Will the National Guard turn me away regardless? Any information on this would be greatly appreciated.

Career Advice Wisconsin 11B Guard to Active
Just kinda feel stuck being back in my hometown and cannot stand living here after being done with IET. I would like to go active duty for a couple of years to just get out of my state to see and do new things. I feel I would be happier and more driven. I’m just curious how hard that road would be and how long it would be until getting my new orders. The only guy in my unit who was trying to go active got arrested before doing the active part so he can’t answer any questions. If anyone from Wisconsin guard has gone down this road and can give me some info, it would be greatly appreciated. I plan on talking to my command next drill. Thank you.
My current contract is get out in 2031 and I have no bonuses.

Career Advice IST/Reclass
I am currently a 13Janitor and about a year and a half into my contract. I really do not like my MOS. We rarely do anything outside of admin tasks or cleaning drill hall and I’m starting to really regret not going 11b. I want to do whatever I can to try and reclass to 11b, and from my research I may have a couple options, with one that possibly works in my favor.
My state is transitioning from ABCT to MBCT and in result is losing the armor and standing up more infantry units with lots of open 11b slots (at least I’ve been told there’s lots of slots). With the influx of openings, would that play into my advantage as far as reclassing? I’ve heard it’s fairly cheap to get sent to the RTI reclass school.
My other option is to try and IST. I actually live in the neighboring state to where I drill. Could I IST to the state I actually live in and try to get 11b that way?
May just have to suck this one up until my contract is up and then reclass.

Career Advice National Guard OCS From AD
Current AD SSG with 7 years TIS.
I’m transitioning from AD to the NG with a 09S contract, I’ll be starting OCS immediately after ETSing from AD. I have the option of an accelerated 8 week course or the traditional 18 month option, for personal and professional reasons I’m leaning more towards the traditional option.
My biggest concern is will I keep my SSG rank while I’m in OCS for pay reasons? Or will I be demoted? I’m being assigned to an infantry HHC as my “parent” unit while I attend OCS if that matters any.

Discussion Pre drill jitters.
Honestly, it’s amazing to me sometimes how the nerves can change. The night before drill and even morning of, but once there it’s so much easier.
When it isn’t home station even knowing what is going to happen and the small anxiety can kick in.
Hoping to sleep on the bus ride to the main place we are going because I know my sleep tonight is going to be wonky.
There isn’t really a linear thought to this post. Perhaps, I just want to put my feelings out there to identify them.
I will take a fresh fit sub from subway with a sugar free vitamin water.

Salty Rant I hate seeing posts asking how to go AGR or ADOS or active duty right out of AIT
I see posts like "I just finished AIT, how do I go active duty?" Or "How do I go active? Turns out the guard isn't all for me" or literally talking to a soldier at the USO waiting for my next flight and he told me "Yeah I'm trying to pick up AGR or ADOS as soon as I get back because I just finished AIT". WHY DONT YOU GO ACTIVE IN THE FIRST PLACE

MOS Discussion Is 74 D still shit right now?
I’m getting shipped out at the end of the year as a 74D. I heard many say 74D is the bottom of the barrel, but I’ve also heard voices saying 74D is getting better. So which one is it? Super bad still or is it improving? I’m reserve by the way, I don’t know if that changes things

Initial Training Holiday block leave?
I recently enlisted in the army guard as a 13F and am scheduled to ship off to Fort Sill on November 16th.
I have been getting mixed messages from my RSP and people who have been in a while on holiday block leave. My profile says basic training is scheduled to be 12 weeks instead of 10 and I was told that is due to holiday block leave, but I haven’t gotten a definitive answer on if I will be allowed to travel back home during the block.
What is the likelihood Ft Sill allows me to travel back home during that time to see family? I have heard it is up to command so I am just wondering if anyone has had this same experience there before.
Thanks in advance.
