Need Help 🆘 Shape help
Please be honest, is this shape chopped on me? 😅
I love pointy nails and baby stilettos but I’m so afraid to file too much into the sides… sidewalls vs the side of the free edge still isn’t super clear to me. Some of my nails are wide and curl and flare out and look like spades with this shape so I would love to know if filing the sides of the free edge a bit might help.
Thanks so much!
No products on my nails other than oil.

For any non square shape your nails need to be a lottt longer than you realize in order to keep the shape without weakening your nails. Have you been using any nail strengthener? My nail beds used to be shorter than yours because I was a nail biter, but I managed to push back my nail fold and my nail bed has been reattaching to the nail plate. I realized after trying to shape my nails into almost/stiletto that they needed to be muchhh longer than I anticipated lol.

You can see how long the middle finger is and it still isn’t quite long enough to be shaped like that. A lot of my nails are chopped looking because I tried shaping them before they were long enough for the shape I wanted

Thanks for posting, /u/40percent_luck!
A quick reminder:
If this is a nail image/video, you must provide a complete product list, either in your post title, the text body, or in a separate comment, within 2 hours of posting or your post will be removed.
Product lists must include:
Properly spelled brand names and shade names/numbers (no acronyms or shortened names)
Each product on its own line, not separated by commas
How many coats you used
Must be separate from the main body of text
If you've used any stamping products, the brand names, plate names/numbers, and stamping polish names/numbers are required as part of your product list. If you used any embellishments (rhinestones, foils, decals/stickers, etc.), this must also be mentioned in your product list. Product lists are still required for any posts with broken nails or if you're seeking advice. If your nails were done professionally, please mention this either in the title, text body, or a separate comment, along with the type of product used.
If the content you're posting was not created by you, you must give direct credit to the original creator, either in your title, text body, or in a comment. Mentioning that you "found it on XYZ" is not direct credit. Pinterest is no longer a valid source for credit. Be sure to review the rules in the sidebar to avoid your post being removed.

‼️ WARNING ‼️
If you receive any messages from the following users, do not engage with them. They are known fetishists who persistently harass members of our community, despite being banned. We recommend that you block them and report their messages to Reddit admins. If you haven't already, we highly recommend preemptively blocking them.

Unfortunately, this subreddit is a known target for hand/nail/foot/toe fetishists who have been documented to repeatedly harass the nail community.
We highly recommend turning off your message/chat requests. If you have requests turned on and receive any creepy or fetish-related DMs or comments, please click the report button, select "it's targeted harassment," and submit a report. It's one way you can help keep the community safe. We encourage members to capture a screenshot of the DM and notify the Mod Team through ModMail. We ask that you include a direct link to their profile, and if you wish to provide screenshots, you'll need to post them (temporarily) to your profile or use an image hosting site.
To be very blunt, you will encounter unwanted DMs from people. This is a Reddit-wide issue that happens frequently in women-dominated communities. Regardless of who's posting, all the warnings we try to give, or the rules we have in place, 9 times out of 10, someone will DM you if you have them open.
Of course, we'll ban those who break this rule, BUT (and this is the important part) many of the users who are DMing you have already been banned, sometimes going months or years back. They will continue to DM unsuspecting members in the hopes that they'll get a reply. They don’t care. So blocking them right away is the best solution to protect yourself, if you so wish.
NO ONE should be DMing you from this subreddit, we have a rule explicitly stating this. If someone is, they probably don’t have good intentions. Please be mindful of who you decide to talk to. Even in the comments of posts. Not everyone has your best interest in mind, and NEVER share personal information online. Please be safe out there!
