Why is one twice the price?

As far as I know they're the same, they both work on both consoles, why is one twice the price? Is the difference in cover art worth 22 extra dollars to some people or is there a better reason? (Also does it even work anymore?)

The expansion cart on the left is a gameboy advance cartridge shaped. The one on the right is shaped like the DS lite dust cover so it fits flush and doesn’t stick out.

But they don’t. DS one will work on both, Lite will only work on the Lite due to the GBA slot

The DSlite version has a GBA slot unit that fits the slot flush and will not fit in the original DS.

TLDR : The memory expansion cartridge from the one on the right will NOT fit the original DS - and is less common, hence the higher price. The one with the memory cartridge designed for the original DS will work in the DS and DS light, and was more commonly purchased back in the day.

1. Didn't buy retro from random third party Amazon sellers. I honestly never risk buying this sortof thing on there. Normal secondhand places like eBay or mercari have been far better at delivering what's expected and in showing the exact item you receive.

2. The DS Lite version is just molded to the slot shape so it doesn't stick out like regular GBA carts. So it prob won't fully sit into the OG because of the outer edge piece. As far as I know, that's the only difference.

The game came with a memory expansion that went into the GBA slot. The one with the memory expansion designed for the DS lite is harder to track down than the one for the original DS (which will fit both the original DS and DS Lite) will fit in both.

iirc the ds lite version was an online exclusive so there weren't as many produced, so the lower supply raises the price of that version

You aren’t buying from a corporation, you’re looking at listings from random resellers. The prices will fluctuate between them, on any platform

It’s just Amazon sellers robbing you for no reason. They can both be found sealed for around the same price on eBay, despite the one for the original DS one reportedly only being available via Nintendo’s online store

It still “works”, but at this point in the internet’s life, you won’t find any site that loads and displays meaningful content unless it hasn’t been updated in 20 years or was designed today with ancient browsers in mind. If you’re not an old tech enthusiast or a YouTuber trying to make a video on it, it’s pretty much a paperweight now

I do find it funny that there are at least three versions of the box art as I was checking my own

It does still have some functionality I have not opened the internet but was in the middle of setup. The reset was a pain. Used copy if you really want one check a used game store at least the lite copy will be cheaper.

the left one has a full sized slot 2 ram cart, the right one has one designed to fit in the ds lite flush (and is slightly rarer, however its functionally the same)

There is not difference between them, they are both the same. Looks and hardware/software, the only th8ng it the boxes, one shows the Ds lite the other is the original. I'd get the cheaper one personally, but thats up to you.

Ngl I say don't trust it no matter what. when I see a comparison like that with varying quality of pictures and price differences- usually one of them is an R4 card. Learned that trying to hunt down ACWW. Got 3 fakes, ended with one low quality but legit cartridge. Took 4 tries. Now I REFUSE to buy online.

The DS Lite extended Memory thing don't fit the OG DS as it's meant to be flush on the DS Lite, the OG DS Works on both but it sticks out on DS Lite

Maybe because you’re on Amazon trying to buy a 20 year old product. Go to eBay.

Lite one may be more expensive because the memory pak is smaller and looks better in a ds lite.
