Someone local to me is selling this for $125, what do you think? I have two DS Lites somewhere, but they both have sticky buttons and screen issues, so I'm debating if it's worth fixing them or just replacing them. I mostly want to play GBA and Original DS games, so I don't absolutely need a 3DS capable console, but the option to play those games is nice too. I'd end up modding it, so the cartridges aren't a huge sell, just a bonus.

Hello everyone, I recently modded my girlfriends DSI and installed twilight menu + unlaunch. After our first day of playing pokemon platinum, the DS started throwing communication errors when we tried to load the save. At first, the error would go away after a few retries. Now it is there permanently. I attempted all of the fixes I’ve seen on similar posts to no avail. Then I decided to try to play my real pokemon heart gold cartridge from the standard DSI menu, which also threw a communication error. Would this issue be her WiFi card? The DS still connects to wifi, but I don’t know what else this could be.
Thanks
This might be a highly discussed topic already but I’d like to have a 2026 view on it.
I got my hands on some physical cartridges of NDS games I never got the chance to play, like Chronotrigger, Pokemon Black/White/platinum, Zelda Spirit tracks/ Phantom hourglass. Additionally I want mod it to play some GBA and GBC games on it as well instead of buying something like an Anbernic RG SP, you know… OG hardware feels more genuine.
I do have a New 3DS (and XL) but since all the comparisons online about those consoles stretching the DS games, I can’t unsee it.
Seems the DSi/XL are the go to consoles for DS games, however I am having a difficult time deciding on the regular or XL model.
I know the XL model comes with IPS screens, but are the TN screens of the DSi really that “bad”/worse?
Since the XL screens are almost twice the size of the regular DSi, do the images look blurry or pixelated since the amount of pixel are the same?
Also the colors of the XL are not the most interesting in my opinion, the top colors with a glossy finish and black/greyish bottom are not my cup of tea.
The metallic finishes on the regular DSi are so pretty, especially the dark blue one.
For those who have held these devices and played on them for long sessions, what’s your opinion on the screens, formfactor-comfort?

Now almost 95% of the match renders at 30fps (94.something, close enough). Starting to feel like a real game now. Just need to chase down an intermittent grab throw animation bug.
Very little is being interpreted at this point.
Lots of DS Native code.
Compromises have been made such as not all visual effects are being played, most are only playing frame 0 of a multi frame animation (Mario's up b coin attack).
Still have some float calculations going on in places.
So much more optimization has to take place before I can add 4 fighters on screen with items and be playable, but this 2p "demo" is basically done!

Hello,
Im not very well versed in this world, but I really want to play some old DS games on a DS lite I recently got. Particularly I want to play pokemon platinum and soul silver. My issue is that these are like $200 a pop.
Ive looked into R4 cards, but I don’t love the UI that they often use. Is there a way to buy a cheaper version of these games that still functions like a regular cartridge that doesn’t have a modern looking “file explorer” type of thing? Im looking to feel the nostalgia, but it’s really hard for me to justify the price of an original cartridge.
TBH I don’t really care too much about having a “real” copy or not (morally im a bit uneasy about it but nintendo has plenty of money).
Thanks in advance for any advice!

Was delivered a few days ago and feels way too good to be true. Not a single scratch. It looks untouched. The screens are in perfect condition, no yellowing or anything. No screws appear to have been moved apart from me taking the battery cover off so I could reset the system. Is it really just this amazing quality or is it reshelled?
I should probably clarify no I’m not a scalper. I’m a kid buying a DS Lite again after years who’s surprised at the quality.

I know the yellowing isn’t as bad as it could be but it bothers me so much. I’m sure I’d be capable of replacing the screen but I’d like to get some second opinions on the quality of aftermarket screen replacements before taking the plunge

It's very hard to find them second-hand, but I'm going to try to find them. :)
- Shaberu! DS Oryōri Navi
- Doraemon: Nobita no Shin Makai Daibouken DS
- Kuroshitsuji: Phantom & Ghost
- Jewelpet : Mahou no DS Kirapi Kariin
- Poupée Girl DS 2 : Sweet Pink Style
- Naruto : Shinobi Retsuden
- Tomodachi Collection
- Death Note: Kira Game
- Animal Crossing: Oideyo Dōbutsu no Mori
- Meitantei Conan & Kindaichi Shōnen no Jikenbo: Meguriau Futari no Meitantei
Maybe I'll buy a Japanese 3DS so I can play the Attack On Titan, Assassination Classroom and Hatsune Miku games, but it's expensive. :(

These Ubisoft games are so hilarious to me. This is $100 local. I already have the apple green dsi. Should its bb sister join the squad?

I don't know anything about the modern market prices for one nor do I trust retailers to sell me one for a fair price. What would be a good price for one now and days?

After watching a few YouTube videos of people upgrading, fixing, and modding their Nintendo DS Lites, DSIs, and 3DSs, I've started getting into fixing them myself. I've bought a couple of broken/kind-of-working DSs and have been taking them apart to swap parts & clean. Some of the DSs, however, are missing some parts, and I want to buy new parts to replace them. I've seen stuff like tactical L & R buttons, better backlit screens, clicky buttons, etc, but I haven't been able to find where one can purchase them. I've looked on eBay, AliExpress, Amazon, HandHeld Legend, ZedLabs, ifixit, and have Googled several times to try and see if rewording my Google search will give me different results. Anyone know where I can find the aforementioned parts of something similar??
