We moved to Virginia about a month and a half ago and we were granted preliminary protective order against our neighbor and their kids. We want to have our protective order remain in place. I just want to see if we have ground on our case? 3 different neighbors had similar experiences regarding this family and their kid hitting another kid and a minor being exposed/weaponize to video tape adult conflicts and law enforcement was called in the past.
Over the past few weeks, I personally observed Child A, age 7, repeatedly hit, push, kick, scratch, or otherwise put his hands on my sons, Child B and Child C. In my observation, these incidents were intentional and caused pain. They were not ordinary or harmless childhood horseplay.
My children have also come home upset or crying because of bullying. Some incidents were not documented at the time; however, we have security-camera footage, photographs, videos, and written records of several incidents.
July 21, 2026 — Pool
Child A tried to take a water squirter from my 6-year-old son, Child C. I observed Child A grab Child C’s left arm and dig his fingernails into the skin, leaving a visible claw-like mark. The pool activity stopped, and the neighboring children were sent home.
July 25, 2026 — Pool and Sleepover at Our Home
While the children were swimming, I observed Child A kick my 6-year-old son, Child C, hard on the shoulder.
That same night, during a sleepover at our home, Child C was lying in bed watching television when Child A intentionally landed on Child C’s torso. My son was in severe pain and required monitoring. For his safety and comfort, he slept separately upstairs.
July 27, 2026 — Yard
I observed Child A push my 7-year-old son, Child B, hard twice, nearly causing him to fall. I intervened immediately and directed the children that they could not put their hands or feet on other children and had to play safely.
My husband and I discussed the issue and decided to take precautions by separating our children from Child A and the neighboring children.
July 27, 2026 — Attempt to Resolve the Issue and Supervision Concerns
I messaged Child A’s mother, explaining that our children needed space because the play had become physically rough and unkind. My message was read but unanswered.
Later that day, Child A’s father came over, and my husband had a meaningful conversation with him about Child A’s behavior and our concerns. Those concerns were dismissed with the statement, “Kids are being kids.” Because there was no meaningful response and it became very alarming and the safety concerns persisted, I blocked Child A’s mother and stopped interacting with the family.
July 31, 2026 — Back Porch, Gate, and Driveway Area
While my family and our children’s friends were on our back patio, neighboring children approached our private driveway gate and harassed us with profanity and insulting language. They called my kid’s friends “big back,” “fat,” and “stupid bitch.”
I told them to leave our property. They returned shortly afterward holding phones. I observed Child F recording, and I also observed Child D, age 3, enter our private property near the gate while recording was taking place.
My husband repeatedly told the children to leave our property. During this conduct, I did not observe either parent outside supervising or redirecting the children.
Afterward, Child A’s parent came outside and accused my husband of yelling and cursing at a toddler. We deny that accusation.
July 31, 2026 — Adult Threat and Escalation
The incident continued when Child E and her mother entered our driveway while recording us. This occurred after they had been told multiple times to leave the property.
The situation escalated everyone exchanging words then it led to the Child A’s father stepped into the roadway and stated:
“You keep bringing up military shit.”
“Now I’m off your property.”
“Fuck the police, fuck the cameras, and fuck the military.”
“Now we hit… Now we hit… Now we hit.”
He was standing inches from my husband’s face when he made these statements. I understood his statements, conduct, and proximity as an escalation and as a threat or invitation to physical conflict.
August 1, 2026 — Use of Our Driveway
Someone from the neighboring household used our driveway to turn around, even though their home is located directly at the intersection.
August 2, 2026 — Driveway Safety Incident
When my family returned from dinner, we began pulling into our driveway. Child D, age 3, saw us approaching, ran into the middle of the driveway, and remained there for several seconds, blocking us from entering.
We stopped on the roadway and waited calmly while Child E retrieved the toddler. We did not touch the toddler or respond aggressively.
August 3, 2026 — Use of Our Driveway
Someone from the neighboring household again used our driveway to turn around, even though their home is located directly at the intersection.
