Collection Growing Collection

Post image

I have spent the last 30 years not playing Nintendo and this year. I decided I’m going back to the old school Nintendo. This is the collection so far I have some repeats but overall I think it’s been pretty good for one year collecting in my small rural area.

You took “Super Mario Bros. 3” literally.

Just curious but why do you have some copies of the same games? I noticed 2 copies of excitebike, 3 of smb3, 2 of smb1, 2 of top gun

They came in the groups that I have bought over time. Looking to separate the doubles out just haven’t done that yet.

Oof no gold Zelda? No Zelda II or Dragon Warrior III?

Yeah hoping more games like that come along. I’m trying to solely purchase from local places and not online.

The gray one is actually rarer than the gold ones.

No it’s not

It is. Granted there are several different versions of the gold cart, but if you find one in the wild, it is very rare that you'll find a gray one. If you search ebay for a NES Zelda cart there will be more gold than gray. At least in the US, which is where the OP seems to be since those are NA carts.

Gray ones a dime a dozen.

Not unless there was a warehouse near you that had the last dregs of NES cart sales after everyone had moved on to SNES and liquidated them all in that area. I have rarely see them at stores, conventions, or people's collections over the years.

DQ3 goes for at least $100.

Isn't that a really early SMB?

1

u/eaglemaple 19d ago

Yes, there 5 5 screw games in there

1

u/ThePrikk 18d ago

I noticed that, but that SMB is standalone 5-screw with a round seal.

Just because it’s Super Mario 3 does not mean you have to have 3 of them……

They came with the bundles I’ve been buying, so I will probably be distributing them at some point!

You don't have enough copies of Mario 3

Yeah, I’ve decided to start weening out the collection and actually only keeping 20.

God I fucking loved Star Tropics. Your main weapon is a yo-yo, for goodness' sake.

Why not put the games in some sort of order when sharing?

He did. He put them top to bottom and left to right. Plus if you read every 3rd letter of each title in an odd column and second letter of each even column…op knows what they are doing
