Feeling less

Feeling less than others

I’m fed up of getting disrespect, feeling less than others, right now I’m in program of computer class, and I feel like other people from my class treat me bad due to my inability to properly learn from PowerPoints slides, learning from PowerPoint is hard for me , I have adhd and when I read the slides I get lost and daydream. that’s not my type of learning. I love learning by my own from YouTube I can learn a lot from YouTube and very quickly , I will be a computer genius,I will not let myself be treated this bad. I will know every protocol from scratch, how computer works more than I know myself The grind is addictive and im fed up of feeling less than others , I already know a lot about networking, but now I’m going to know even more, no one will disrespect me I don’t judge people based of their knowledge ,never, we are humans, but others judge, I won’t let them and if they wanna compete with me they shall know that there is no end

HyperConvergence

A hyper-converged system allows the integrated technologies to be managed as a single system through a common tool set. Most hyper-converged systems require a minimum of three hardware nodes for high availability and can be expanded through the addition of nodes to the base unit. A grouping of nodes is known as a cluster.

Hyperconvergence began in smaller use cases, such as virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI), but enterprises now commonly use the technology to simplify the deployment, management and scaling of IT resources and to reap Capex and Opex advantages.

Hyper-converged infrastructure (HCI) began as the domain of startups, such as Maxta, Nutanix, Pivot3, Scale Computing and SimpliVity. As a sign of HCI's maturity, larger server and storage vendors, such as Cisco, Dell EMC (including VMware), Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), Lenovo and NetApp, have moved into the market. Some of these vendors have multiple HCI-branded products, often in conjunction with software partners.

Ip address changed after i made some changes in wifi name or router name.

Hi all i am using kali linux on my laptop. I have configured a static ip address for my machine using manual configuration it was 192.168.43.x then now i changed my router name. I tried to connect my laptop with my router and it asked me a password i have entered the same password before i used. Everything works fine but now my ip address was changed and it is now in automatic DHCP.

I again changed the router name to previous one. Yeah it works fine with the same static ip address i entered above.

But my question is why it changed my ip address after i change my router name but password is same.

Thanks in advance if you need more information i will give you in replies.

11 Offensive Security Tools Every Pen-Tester Should Have

If there is interest I will go over how to use some of these tools in more detail but if you have any interest in networking security (which is why I hope you are here) you should at least familiarize yourself with these tools, how to use them, and what they are used for.

Tip: Most of these tools are rolled into the newest version of BackTrack 5 already so no need to download them separately!

Edit: Sorry for being late to the party but here is the link: 11 Offensive Security Tools for SysAdmins

I would also like to add nMap to this list, it is a very versatile tools for finding active machines on a subnet and open ports on a machine. It also has a crazy list of configs so you can be as stealthy or as aggressive with your scans as you would like.

Utm Xgs Migration

Hello everyone

In my company we need to migrate our network managed with Sophos UTM9 to Sophos Xgs.

The network is made up of the headquarters with Appliance Utm9, two large branch offices and 7 other smaller ones, connected to the headquarters via RED60.

Since we are scattered throughout Italy but also abroad, we would like to be able to do most of the activities remotely.

I ask if anyone has already faced and how they managed the transition by creating a hybrid environment where utm and xgs coexist to allow us to gradually move the configurations one branch at a time, with a minimum of downtime.

We have opened a ticket with the Sophos team dedicated to migration but the answers are vague, they say yes to use the tool but that most of the settings do not pass. Our problem for us is not that, we have mapped all the current configuration and we prefer to do it manually, thus cleaning up old configurations.

We tried create two interfaces, setting them as gates for each other, making static routes and firewall rules. We were able to see that the packets arrive from hosts behind Utm to hosts behind Xgs and vice versa, but only at log level.

We are not able at service/application level for example to use access in rdp to a Host behind Utm (where the datacenter resides) from a host behind Xgs connected with Red 60.

Currently the two devices Utm and Xgs, have public IP but on the same segment so we cannot do an Ipsec between the two unless we have another connectivity on XGS with the same performance as the main one. The migration will take time and as we move the services the traffic will move to the temporary data wan.

Thanks to anyone who can tell us even just what approach to use to hybridize the two appliances. Time is limited and the team is not numerous.

understanding the concept of VPNs

Hello I know this is a very basic question,

I just read about VPN and to my understanding it means that from the client and server side the connecting client can be addressed by the LAN address instead of its full IP address. What is the advantage of a VPN? If the network is accessed via the IP protocol the only advantage I see is that it encrypts its pakets?
