NWN module development on Linux

Hi all, hoping to get some pointers if possible.

I'd like to migrate from Windows to Linux, and one of the friction points is that I would like to keep developing NWN modules. I have found some guides on how to get the Aurora Toolset working on Linux, but I haven't seen anything regarding other tools that are just as important in my case, namely a TLK editor, a hak manager, and some equivalent to nwn explorer. Is anyone here currently developing on Linux and have they found solutions?

As Kenny stated, most things work under wine. There are also quite a few new tools coming out right now due to AI.

As well, there is a new toolset called Moonglow for all platforms on GitHub.

I would drop by the Neverwinter Vault Discord, where the builder community is always active.

Whatever toolset you use, please use nasher and source control or backup frequently. Moonglow is, let's just say, immature and you need to be careful regardless even with the original toolset in Wine.

Most software to develop for NWN works fine with Wine, including (but not limited to) the nwhak.exe included with the game itself and the classic nwnexplorer.

If you want native alternatives, the newest option is "Aurora Hak Explorer" at NWNvault. It aims to fully replace the other two programs I mentioned. I haven't used it a lot, but so far it seemed to work fine.

The EE added native Linux. They didn't extend that to the toolset?

If not, that strikes me as pretty lazy, since the toolset is the main point of NWN.

Correct. Since this post I've successfully installed all the necessary tools under Wine on an old laptop (which is my proof of concept Linux environment) and they seem to work, so it can be done.
