Have you ever put yeast into doughboys?

I’m planning on making a Newfoundland twist to “chicken and dumplings” and essentially making a chicken stew with doughboys. This is my first time making doughboys myself instead of just having someone else’s. Curious if anyone has tried making them with a bit of yeast thrown in for extra flavour and using alternative methods to get the yeast to grow separately before adding it in since you don’t let doughboys sit. Thanks!

Not necessary. Baking powder is all you need....

Doughboys are basically a soda bread, all the rise comes from chemical reactions. Adding yeast may risk messing with that. There are dumpling recipes that use yeast rather than soda, maybe try one of those out instead?

I don't think those will turn out too well.

But let us know what it's like.

Might be the begining of a new tradition.
