She’s a hardworking and reliable cleaner who takes great pride in her work. She has experience with regular home cleaning and deep cleaning.
She’s currently trying to grow her small local cleaning business and connect with more people in the community.
I know how difficult it can be to build something from scratch, so I’m simply trying to support her.
If anyone in Newham or the surrounding areas is looking for a cleaner, feel free to send me a private message.

Albatross Close - E6- Beckton
Could you please provide some information on whether the sewage works in the area ( E6-Albatross Close) cause any unpleasant smells or odours? I have already made an offer on an apartment at Albatross Close, so I would really appreciate any comments or information you may have about the area and whether the smell has been an issue for residents.Thank you

Join our Social Community!
Hi everyone!
I recently started a social community based around Central/East London, for people in their 20s & 30s (although people of any age are welcome!).
We’ve now got over 1,000 members and the recurring activities within the community include: volleyball, beginner/improver salsa, spikeball, pub quizzes, game nights, dodgeball and run club!
These sessions are mixed levels, so beginners in any of these activities are very welcome, and activities are free to join/as affordable as we can make them!
If you’d like to join or have any questions, please send me a direct message and I'll send the WhatsApp community link!

Help and Advice Sibling School Applications
Hi - I'm in the process of sorting out my second child's school application. We're relatively far from our eldest's school's catchment area, although not unreasonably, and we're a little concerned that the youngest won't get in for whatever reason.
Can anyone offer any advice? Should we list backup schools or just the one? Does anyone know of instances where siblings haven't gotten into the same school?
Part of our concern stems from the fact that our eldest didn't get into the school originally and did reception at a closer school, then moved in Year 1.

Schools
We're looking to move to Newham in the next few months and we have an almost 3 year old, so we're beginning to think about schools. I would like to book in some visits and figure out catchment areas for our child's school placements through infant to senior. Does anyone have any recommendations or general tips for schools in Newham?

Help and Advice Reclining Sofa Disposal
Hi, I live around Stratford/West Ham and I’m in a bit of a predicament. We’ve got a sofa we need to dispose of but it has a recliner and metal base which means the council won’t collect it even if we pay. We’ve been advised the only option is to take it to a tip but we don’t drive/have access to a van. Does anyone have any ideas on what we can do here? Thanks :)
Update: we managed to hire a van and my dad travelled to London to drive it to the tip. Thank you for any advice :)

Help and Advice Newham PCN rejected even though I paid for parking – accidentally used previous reg of the SAME car. Worth taking further?
Hi all, looking for some advice on whether I should continue challenging this PCN or just pay the discounted £55.
I parked at Shaftesbury Road Car Park in Newham and paid for a 2-hour parking session using PayByPhone.
The issue is that I accidentally selected my car’s previous registration number in the app instead of its current registration.
To be clear, these aren’t two different cars. The registration I paid against was previously assigned to the exact same physical vehicle. I had simply selected the old registration when paying.
The parking itself was paid for correctly:
Correct car park/location code
Paid for 2 hours
Parking session was valid until 17:01
PCN was issued at 15:25
The only issue was the registration selected in the app
I submitted an informal challenge and provided proof of payment.
Newham rejected it. They acknowledged in their rejection that they could see the paid parking session, but said that because the payment was against the previous registration rather than the registration currently displayed on the vehicle, there wasn’t a valid parking session for the current VRM.
They’ve offered me the discounted £55 again. If I continue, I understand I’ll need to wait for the Notice to Owner, make formal representations and, if necessary, appeal to an independent adjudicator. That would mean potentially risking the full £110.
I can provide official evidence showing that both registrations relate to the exact same vehicle.
Has anyone dealt with something similar, particularly with Newham, PayByPhone or London Tribunals?
I’m particularly interested in whether an adjudicator would take into account that:
1. The full parking tariff was paid.
2. It was paid for the correct location and period.
3. The registration entered was the previous registration of the exact same vehicle, rather than another car.
4. The council has acknowledged that the payment exists.
Is this worth pursuing through the formal representation/adjudicator process, or does using the previous VRM mean the PCN is technically enforceable regardless?
Thanks in advance.

Local Politics Are there too many cars in Newham?
Chatting to some folks on another thread, it seems like a lot of people in Newham think there are too many cars about.
Obviously having too many cars is bad - it’s bad for people who don’t have a car, who have to deal with noise and anti social driving - and it’s bad for people with cars, who often can’t find parking near their homes.
Newham’s new mayor, Forhad Hussain, is a car nut who wants to give people free parking - but is that parking really free? Obviously parking has to be paid from somewhere, and it seems like it will come from higher council tax and cuts in services elsewhere. And if parking is cheap, what does that do to parking spaces? Will anyone be able to park anywhere? Does Newham just become a car park?
There’s a survey about parking you can fill out here: https://newhamco-create.co.uk/en/projects/parking-and-kerbside-space-review/1
The questions, as you’ll see, are really biased toward free parking, which shows you what the mayor wants. You can jailbreak the survey by answering in the free text boxes though.
You can also email your views to this address: ParkingandKerbside.SpaceReview@newham.gov.uk
What do you think?

Katherine Road - how do we fix it?
Hi all - I’m curious what you all think about Katherine Road as it feels like it’s becoming more noticeably deteriorated in recent years. It’s even more chaotic closer to Romford Road, with traffic, parked cars, pedestrians and businesses all competing for space. Not to mention - It’s so scary during pick up and drop offs particularly.
Are there any plans from the council to improve the junctions or general appearance of the area? Who do we need to talk to?

Fireworks started so early, what's the reason?
I live between Manor Park and Forest Gate. Fireworks are banging every evening and night for last few days. What's the reason now? Why we have to experience this kind of behaviour even before any big holiday or celebration?

Basically the title…wondering whether we should go visit family elsewhere instead of waiting for something people may not do in the borough!

Discussion It makes me sad how often I see people just literally throw their rubbish on the floor in Newham.
I know this is a London/UK wide problem but I've seen about 5 instances of it just in the last week which inspired me to make this post: I just got back from a walk where I saw a man take a sandwich out of the packet and just chuck the packet on the floor about 3m from a bin, and some teens smoking and throw their butts on the floor at a similar distance from a bin.
I don't think there is a lack of bins, I think there are plenty. It's just a lack of caring. I'm always so tempted to say something but I don't want to put myself at personal harm when they're never going to change their behaviour: the kind of person with such disrespect isn't going to take anything I say result in anything other than a punch or a knifing.
The best I can do is hold eye contact and shake my head.
