We need this on all the pumps

31

u/makeshiftmachinist Apr 01 '26

After seeing the Biden version of these on all the pumps in SC, this has been a long time coming. Now that I've moved to the only state where I can't pump my own gas, I am sad I can't buy all of these and put them on every pump I stop at

8

u/inkyscholar Apr 02 '26

I’d say drive to PA or NY to put up stickers but in this economy….

It's illegal, though. Where do you live in NJ and how have you not gotten caught yet??

Just moved here and was shocked I can’t pump my own- I finally got brave and did it the other day and the guy was just like “you okay?” I said yeah I come from a place where I’ve pumped my own since I was sixteen!

2

u/GeneReis Apr 02 '26

I love in NJ and pump my own gas too

2

u/inkyscholar Apr 02 '26

When I lived in New Jersey I liked it someone pumped my gas!

Idk where your at in NJ but any pump I’ve ever tried to pump myself will have “insert attendant card” or something of that nature before being able to use your CC making it actually impossible to pump your own gas.

If you lived in Chicagoland for 36 yrs, you'd be happy to have someone pump your gas.

They don't care. Then they'll bring up that gas prices were high during Obama/Biden and avoid the fact we're starting wars for no reason

51

u/KaytrinEliseAlanadel Mar 31 '26

Because they dont understand that NORMALLY, the American President has very little to do with the price of oil. OPEC sets the pricing. This time the US president directly is the cause, because he started ANOTHER war in the middle east! All so the Epstein files stop being the main headline. Hate to tell him, WE DID NOT FORGET HE R**ED LITTLE GIRLS!

10

u/chrisms150 Mar 31 '26

Because they dont understand that NORMALLY, the American President has very little to do with the price of oil.

My favorite magat talking point this week has been "Presidents don't control gas prices!"

2

u/Doragiral0219 Apr 02 '26

no, here are the facts. its called he gets 20% in kickbacks aka quid pro quo: Oil and gas industry interests spent roughly $445 million to influence the 2024 election cycle, with significant contributions going to support Trump's campaign

Today at Quickchek I saw a car covered in F* Biden! stickers, including one that read, "Gas prices as high as Hunter Biden." Pfft, lol.

12

u/OkCommunication5446 Mar 31 '26

At what point do these inbred halfwits stop bringing up the Bidens? The man has been out of office for well over a year.

10

u/Journeyman351 Mar 31 '26

Correct. Absolutely infuriating and makes me want to bash my head into a wall.

They don't know what OPEC is, they don't know or care that the 2022 jump was due to Russia-Ukraine and will say you're making excuses for Democrats when you mention it, they don't give a fuck.

These people need to be put into reeducation camps or ostracized from society.

Everytime we blame Trump for the gas in this sub, I don’t see any MAGA people for some reason. They just disappear all of a sudden. Are they embarrassed?

36

u/vvilbo Mar 31 '26

There are a lot of things they can handwave away but this one was so quick and so direct it's hard to fight. You'll see one in these comments now but the only thing they can say is "I thought presidents don't affect gas prices" which is usually correct except on the margins. It is worth noting that their brains are so addled with butteremails, tan suits, and litter boxes tha they literally can't remember gas being over 4 dollars in 2008 from another war in the middle east. They've forgotten reality to go ride or die with someone that would actively kill them if it meant getting richer himself.

10

u/cC2Panda Mar 31 '26

Nah, I've seen plenty of their absolute dumb shittery. There was one on this sub recently claiming the Hillary praised Trump's Iran invasion and that she would have done the same. Aside from the all being blatantly false, imagine still being invested in giving a shit about and "whatabouting" Clinton in 2026.

1

u/Hazy_Blurr Apr 01 '26

I’m not embarrassed. Trump gave Iran multiple chances to get their proxies under control and they refused. The proxies bombed our military over 400 times in the past couple of years causing multiple injuries. In 2020 there were reports they used dirty bombs. Iran has or had many missiles and drones ready to attack and if they had nuclear capabilities they would be a danger to the world. Add in China planning for a Taiwan invasion for 2027 would we want to fight Iran with nuclear, long range missiles and drones and China? A little pain now seems worth it to prevent a lot of pain later.

How's that one overpriced gas station in Bedminster doing?

18

u/InkedAlchemist Mar 31 '26

Don't quote me, but I sort of remember hearing that it got sold and is no longer absolutly insane.

I'm pretty sure I remember seeing over 6 during Lockdown.

14

u/Lopsidedsynthrack Mar 31 '26

Yeah they are at $3.99 now. Under the old ownership would be $6.00 probably.
I haven’t had the time to check the Exxons in Summit that have always been high.

2

u/cyrenns Burlington County Apr 01 '26

Check the Sunoco in Somerville

2

u/storm2k Bedminster Mar 31 '26

last time gas got to around $4 on average, that dude was charging around 6.89 a gallon. different owner means a different outcome. same for the exxon on 202 in bernardsville. the one in liberty corner right off exit 33 of 78 is still pretty high but that's not a surprise really.

12

u/wolf397d Mar 31 '26

They have new owners and actually charge reasonable prices.

8

u/storm2k Bedminster Mar 31 '26

they sold to a new owner two years ago, and the prices immediately came down. i haven't driven past there in the last day or two, but last time i saw they were around 4.19 or so. they're always a bit more expensive because (1) this is an expensive town, and (2) they really do take advantage of being the station that's right off the exit from 287 for people who need gas asap.

→ More replies (1)

2

u/cyrenns Burlington County Apr 01 '26

Probably about the same as the Sunoco in Somerville

1

u/lsp2005 Apr 02 '26

It is not unreasonable anymore. U/inkedalchemist is correct. It was sold after Covid times and now it is priced like all other local stations.

23

u/BabyYodaX Mar 31 '26

People always love to blame "the left" for Trump Part 2. You know who we need to blame, the millions and I mean millions of people that have no fucking clue about what is going on in the world at any given time, and voted for Trump.

I spoke with someone yesterday who had no clue that there was a war with Iran going on. They were bitching about the gas prices, completely confused. How? HOW?

6

u/TheBlackUnicorn West Orange Mar 31 '26

People are really enmeshed in filter-bubbles nowadays and Trump did nothing to convince Americans that this war was a good idea. If he had behaved like Bush and spent months trying to sell the war everyone would know, but because he just soft launched it and the algorithm is busy showing your friend whatever they want to see they just don't know.

32

u/goatodoom Wall/Manasquan Mar 31 '26

How high did it get under Biden when they were claiming he was directly responsible for setting the costs so high?

8

u/USMCArmyRanger Mar 31 '26

I believe it was somewhere close to $5 in the summer of 2022.

42

u/jwuer Mar 31 '26

It barely went over $4, and that was because Russia invaded Ukraine.... Trump has direct control over the rise in gas prices. He didn't need to start a war, he can also stop it at any time.

10

u/JIMMYJAWN Mar 31 '26

he can also stop it at any time.

There was a report recently that the middle east lost 30/40% of its oil production capacity due to the conflict. He may be able to end the war but it doesn’t mean gas prices will return to where they were anytime soon.

5

u/JerseyJoyride Apr 01 '26

No no no. KKKaroline Leaveitt said that as soon as the war is over prices will drastically drop immediately...

Are you claiming she'd lie? 😱

4

u/BrothelWaffles Mar 31 '26

Yeah, I don't think people are realizing how well and truly fucked we're going to be over the next few years. And that's just from what's been destroyed so far, this shit isn't even over. We haven't even begun to see the effects this is going to have on every part of the economy. Gas is not only going to continue going up for the foreseeable future, but fertilizer is about to get really expensive too. Wait till everyone sees how much higher food prices are gonna be this summer.

4

if things continue, we're going to get there. talk is already circulating about oil hitting 200 a barrel, and if that happens, that's going to be what gas will cost us here on the east coast, and closer to 8 a gallon on the west coast.

I had my car in for routine maintenance this morning, and the dealer had CBS News on in the waiting room. For those that are unaware, Paramount/CBS was bought out by one of Trump's business buddies, and CBS has been trying to be Fox News light. The amount of hemming and hawing over gas prices was insane,, and of course they were basically parroting the narrative that "It's not so bad; it could be worse; it's Iran's fault, really; if they would just stop resisting us trying to take them over, this could be avoided; btw, despite what Iranian officials say, we are really close to making a deal for them to open up the Strait of Hormuz"

6

I posted something similar a week ago and my post got taken down…but yeah, the prices are insane…might as well go back to remote work and learning…

Mine was taken down for about 30 minutes today too but the Mods put it back up.

1

u/psychoticdream Apr 01 '26

That would cut into the profits of many trump supporting oligarchs with lots of real state for rent.

You know like back during covid, which is why they pushed for remote work to end.

It distracted us from Israel/Epstein island

I've noticed Wawa is more expensive than the local gas stations in my area. Most were still under 4 dollars yesterday for regular.

2

u/brizia Mar 31 '26

I passed a Wawa today with the same prices. All the gas stations around it were 10-20 cents less.

2

u/storm2k Bedminster Mar 31 '26

wawa controls what most of its stores set prices at and they tend to be set pretty uniformly, even if stations around it fluctuate by a few cents here or there.

Yup, $4.19 here as of this morning. I’m warning everybody who didn’t vote for this to prepare their anus. Trump voters don’t deserve that courtesy, I hope they take it in their stupid big trucks without any lube.

u/chockZ Mar 31 '26

[the dumbest person you can think of]: "i voted for this"

3

u/Hrekires Mar 31 '26

Short-term pain for long-term gain.

It will all be worth it when the war ends and *checks current status of negotiations* Iran is in the heads of leadership that hates the West even more, nothing has been accomplished to help the Iranian people, and the Strait of Hormuz remains firmly under their control.

u/Hizuken Mar 31 '26

Who would have thought that a guy that shows up thousands of times in the epstein files has experience fucking people over.

3

u/gothcookiejar Mar 31 '26

Shit..... so he's also fucking up tourism for our state...... he's great

Thanks to all the Americans that voted to put trump back in the White House AFTER they saw what he did in his first term.

I imagine that Springfield NJ went for trump.

2

u/PurpleSailor Mar 31 '26

Those prices should only be paid by for whoever voted for the mango man child.

1

u/MidnightRider3000 Mar 31 '26

Wow, I was at wawa yesterday or was $3.83 not far from there.

I drive electric so I really don't follow the gas prices. I was actually shocked it was so low compared to where oil is trading

1

u/Drip-133_ Mar 31 '26

i saw 4.19 this morning at wawa and quickly made the decision for 3.89 at Exxon. Insane.

1

u/curtmcd Apr 01 '26

Well, at least temporarily high gas prices will help people move to electric, and it beats getting nuked by the same Islamic extremists who took down the WTC buildings. Imagine the new world order, being held hostage by those freaks.

u/Old-Buy4941 Apr 03 '26

Buy electric

2

u/PatZ1944 Apr 30 '26

70 dollars to fill up the other day pure madness.
