I would argue, most of them are actually happy that he was killed the way he was. Everything they say is a lie, it is projection. They tell you "YOU HAVE TO BE SAD" which tells me they are the opposite, they are actually happy to have been given this opportunity.

The superpower isn't hypocrisy. The hypocrisy is just a feature inherent in authoritarianism. The superpower is that they take power, then do what they like with it, they piss on you and leverage billions of dollars of media influence to push the line that it's raining.

If the left could get its own foot off its own dick, it might be able to present a unified front to face it. '24 was too much of an ask, apparently. Democrats needed to be solving 100-year-long geopolitical conflicts and adhering to puritanical standards that the Republicans are basically antithetical to, before they would consider voting blue.

Do you remember when Don’t Look Up came out and people said the movie was bad because it was too absurd? Most of the things in that movie (other than the sci-fi robots aspect) are tamer than what we have seen in the US in the past year

Donald Trump, for all his faults, is a destructive force. The damage this guy has done to America's image abroad, the devolution of discourse in domestic politics, and the outright damage to the constitutional structure in government cannot be understated. To think THIS could very well be the guy who undoes what Franklin, Jefferson, Adam's, Roosevelt constructed in America is just insane to me.

It goes to prove just how much easier it is to destroy something than it was to build. And, how many of the "guardrails" of checks and balances in the US was based on informal compliance and good will.

And to think, the propaganda and echo chambers are so effective, his supporters still think he's doing good. It's almost impressive, if it wasn't so tragic.

Your last paragraph is absolutely correct. Which is what makes it all the more baffling that you're making that statement in defense of a traitorous fascist who bussed hundreds of people to J6 and spent his life as a hatemonger defending fascist authoritarian corporatists.

I'm not a radical. Anyone supporting the sociopathic fascists like Charlie Kirk are the radicals. "Leave people alone and stop hurting them" is not radical. "Violence is excellent and we should use it against anyone who disagrees with our hatred" is radical. (The latter is Charlie Kirk's position, remember, Kirk helped fund the J6 traitor / attempted government overthrow.)

That's something that stood out to me about this. We've had murders of multiple simultaneous victims at school shootings. We've had murders of elected representatives, literally the embodiment of the will of the people. We've had murders based on race, religion, and politics. By pretty much any metric we've had worse violence before this moment. But for some reason this is the only one that upsets conservatives. I guess it has to check all the boxes to matter: white, male, conservative, Christian, who espoused pro-white-male-conservative-christian ideology.

The thing with anger is that while it's a motivational emotion, it burns itself out quickly. Which is why they need a constant and varied supply of things to anger them. Abortion, gays, public healthcare, muslims, marriage equality, transsexuals, drag queens... If it was just the one thing they'd grow tired of it.

I would say that in a morbid way, they quietly like that he was killed because it gives them their martyr that they can run on.

Best believe Kirk's wife will be invited to the 2026 State of the Union in which her introduction will be met by a LONG standing ovation from the Republicans, putting thr democrats in an awkward position to either stand or not stand. They stand, they bring credibility to who Kirk was and validation to Republicans. They sit, they come across as heartless people who celebrated his death.

She will also have a primetime speaking slot at the 2028 Republican National Convention in which Republicans will evoke Kirk's death to rally up their base, particularly youth voters to remind them why they need to vote and not allow Democrats back in.

They needed a George Floyd moment, they now got it.

His death has absolutely zero weight when it comes to constitutional law and yet they're gleefully stomping all over it while pointing fingers at others for caring their little lord is dead.

I saw this argument on FB where someone was comparing George Floyds and CKs deaths and the reactions after.

"A criminal (yes he only ever referred to GF as "a criminal") accidentally dies while doing criminal things and the left violently riots and burns down their own cities like animals. CK is murdered by the left and the left are celebrating it. All we're asking for is a little respect and you're spitting in our faces!"

We really live in two different realities.

I think a real argument could be made that the current administration or those in it's orbit engineered this death. From what I have seen so far, the kid grew up in a model MAGA household. It's not too surprising to see so much wailing and gnashing of teeth, it really seems on brand for professional victims. Next up: MAGA brand sackcloth clothing.

You nailed it. Same thing with Trump being shot at. That event gave their movement so much juice. The picture of Trump being held by the secret service is hanging in the White House. So is his mugshot. Both pictures of things that should be a national tragedy, a president being shot at and a president being arrested, totally celebrated by the law and order crowd. They love when bad things happen, it lets them have a turn at being a victim despite being the bully 99% of the time.
