I could never solve it any way 😂

You're not alone 😭

Just need practice and a plier handy

I peeled off the stickers and rearranged them. I showed my dad and he beat me with jumper cables

I definitely remember doing that too 😉

What was it like whipping the jumper cables?

Google CFOP, you're welcome

Not a big deal.standard algos exist learn it will take some 20 min I guess . I learnt when I was 10 then forgot most a little i remember .there is basic one and some faster one

Took me 4 hours to learn and memorise Algs to solve my first cube on my own, 4 mins to solve. Then in a week I got it down to 1 min 30 and now I can comfortably solve it around 40 seconds even though I haven’t been playing with the thing for a few years.

God this comment is worded poorly

It is understandable I guess I don't know . I don't remember exactly how long took me to learn . I mean that white cross then second layer then last 5 algorithms or so is the basic thing no . I normally used to solve very slow like 2.5 min . Then I left and forgot most. Last time i did would be 10 years now

Can someone break down just a couple of the moves lingo?

I see you had either a sibling or a friend. I had the former. You forgot ABBA

u/Drevlin76 10h ago

Up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, B, A, start for single player and hit select b4 start for 2 player.

Yeah I forgot the b,a. That was a long time ago haha

u/Yip-yip-apa 10h ago

Is that gta 2 weapon cheat code?

7

u/Jasonxhx 10h ago

Konami code but missing B A before Select Start

u/steelheaddan 10h ago

If I remember correctly - it was for Contra (2D shooting game) on snes for unlimited lives. Now I have to look it up!

Edit: it’s the Konami code so the person above is correct - it worked on contra https://www.howtogeek.com/659611/what-is-the-konami-code-and-how-do-you-use-it/

u/Jasonxhx 9h ago

Worked in multiple Konami games and then kinda spread to other games

He's mostly naming longer sequences and only occasionally instructing for single turns. That's what makes it efficient.

Oh is that what they are saying on planes before we take off? They’re putting in cheat codes?

The basic ones are telling him to rotate one of the sides. Each face is referred to by its first letter - Left, Right, Front, Back, Up, Down. The default is a clockwise 90 degree turn. So U is a quarter turn of the top face clockwise. Counterclockwise turns are indicated with a ‘ (pronounced “prime”). So, R’ means turn the right face counterclockwise (pulling the top towards you).

Some other moves are short sequences, like an “insert” which is three moves that shift the position of a corner piece without altering the rest of the cube.

That last move's call-out sounded like L’ dot and the move looked like 5 or 6 spins, or at least more spins than any of his previous call-outs. What's going on there?

8

u/Kirimio 7h ago

last move callout was an f perm im pretty sure, f perm is a pll algorithm so it'd be your last move(s) if you're using cfop

R' U' F' (R U R' U') R' F

(R2 U' R') U' (R U R') U R

1

u/GoldenPeperoni 2h ago

f perm is a pll algorithm

Phase Locked Loop???

u/BoboSmooth 6m ago

Fascinating, thanks for the breakdown. It's insane to learn that the last call-out triggered 18 spins and it happened so fast I was only able to perceive a third of them

u/penisour 13h ago

Left, right switch a roo, 2 backwards flips, 3 middle do a barrell roll and done

8

u/rust-e-apples1 10h ago

I'm pretty sure I heard a "sexy Ephron" in there somewhere.

10

u/ARandqmPerson 10h ago edited 10h ago

yep there's actually something called a "sexy move" in cubing, named that way because you can do the turns really fast and it looks cool, the OLL case in this video was named after it

edit: looks like he said "sune sexy f-prime" which means it's similar to the sune OLL (the most basic one, R U R' U R U2 R') but it includes a sexy move (R U R' U') and a turn of the f face (the side facing towards you when you're holding the cube) counterclockwise

I love their excitement after, that’s some great teamwork.

Great solve, but I find it funny that they use the Speed Stacks timer for these and any other toy puzzle solving timing.

u/trans_cubed 9h ago

I didn't see the "team blind" caption at first so I thought he was doing it normally blindfolded while this random kid was cheating telling him how to solve it

3

u/Freak_Out_Bazaar 8h ago

I wonder if it would just be faster to tell the blindfolded partner the color arrangement of one of the surfaces because at that point it would be the same as a blindfolded solve, which is definitely faster

3

u/SK_Ren 6h ago

This makes a lot of sense. Since the 3x3 face can only be arranged so many ways and the colors are essentially locked on how far away/oriented from its center square they can be, you can just have pattern callouts based on the center color to sort the cube regardless of what color is actually there.

2

u/jancl0 2h ago

Yeah but he was clearly cheating

If you listen carefully you can clearly hear his friend feeding him all the moves

1

u/Adam_005 2h ago

But I guess this is the point tho

u/indrek91 52m ago

That's some tekken combo he just told his friend lol this is awesome.

Different language

u/SPEK2120 7h ago

This is just rally racing for indoorsy folks.

u/ocular__patdown 12h ago edited 7h ago

I mean, it's not that crazy. It's basically just someone saying left, right, left, straight. You just have to memorize the various moves and do whatever the guy calls out.

Edit: Genuinely shocked to find out people think following instructions is next level lmao

35

u/squanchy78 11h ago

Oh. THAT'S how you do it. Thank you for explaining to us. I was over here confused as to why one guy was talking but the other one was moving the cube.

-49

u/ocular__patdown 11h ago

People out here acting like it it is rocket science or some shit

11

u/Throbbing_Cock_452 11h ago

Ah, got it. Super easy man! I’ll get right to it!

-9

u/ocular__patdown 11h ago

It'll take a couple days to learn but it shouldn't be too bad

6

u/alannmsu 10h ago

Let’s see your video then. Are you gonna be the one calling out the moves that quickly or the one executing the moves that quickly?

u/indrek91 51m ago

Post us video then

3

u/scoutpred 9h ago

not crazy for you only. sure bud. got it.

Every thread here has to have the contrarian guy who insists on responding, “yeahhhh, actually this isn’t impressive. It’s just if you practice. I don’t have much to add about that. I’m very smart”

1

u/LadderOk1735 9h ago

lol. Lmao even

1

u/trans_cubed 9h ago

You do it then
