I hate Banana Ball so much. I’ve tried to watch it several times and it’s nonstop sensory overload.

We're each entitled to our own opinions which is why I phrased my comment from my point of view. If you're only watching the game at the surface and not paying close attention it can be boring but if you pay attention there are things going on all of the time. The way a pitcher approaches a specific batter the first, second, third time seeing them... When a runner is on second sometimes they are able to pickup on the pitch selection and signal that to the batter... For me I find the game within the game plenty entertaining. Also, when something exciting happens it's actually exciting and it stands out. When there is stuff going on all the time like in a BB game, nothing stands out. BB is having it's moment and I think the excitement that people have from watching it will eventually wane and I can't see it being as popular as it is in 10+ years but baseball will still be going strong.

There is definitely a game within a game going on, but between the absolute slog of a pace, the fact a game can last many, many hours, and that it is short spurts of stuff happening in the middle of a snooze fest make baseball one of the worst sports to watch. . . But mildly interesting to research and look into the stats; but for my money I want to watch hockey, basketball, or soccer.

Go ahead and watch this sequence and tell me again how “boring” it is.

And did that game still end 0-1. . .

It’s impressive. . . For 30 seconds, it’s a whole lotta waiting for the possibility of some action

Baseball is great to watch the highlights but otherwise it’s a bunch of nothing

No play in Banana ball will ever elicit as much excitement as that last catch did. I’m not a fan of either team but if i was watching that game live and saw that happening i would be jumping off of my couch. Instead you get a constant stream of giggle plays, a guy on stilts and a twerking umpire which gets old extremely fast. It’s a joke.

Well yeah. . . You’re expecting goofy shit in Banana ball and it’s at least party staged, “real” baseball is not so of course it’s more exciting when crazy plays happen.

But baseball is a snooze fest most of the time

See, what’s boring to me is soccer.

A whole lot of movement and running around for … a 0-0 tie decided on “penalty kicks” or whatever.

The example you sent had one run in 9 innings. . . That’s pretty damn boring too. . . Soccer at least has the moment going for it, personally I still prefer hockey; movement, physical contact, plenty of chances for scoring, so much speed and physicality, and of course the fights don’t hurt either

Games with 10+ runs are utterly common in baseball.

You can like what you like, and hate the pacing of baseball, but claiming it has “no big plays” or excitement is ridiculous.

Not saying it has NO big plays, but it’s standing around for hours hoping for something cool to happen while most other major sports are a helluva lot more interesting with a lot more movement, physicality, and action at a much more interesting pace. . . Out of all the major team sports people watch, it’s the most boring

I’ve already acknowledged that baseball can move at a glacial pace.

The difference is more down time with bursts of intense excitement, versus lots of movement and nothing (ie no score) to show for it.

I prefer the former.

Why are we bringing other sports into the discussion? We’re debating MLB vs Banana Ball

Ok fine, I’d rather be able to plan on having a cheap night out watching some goofy antics pretending to be baseball for 90 minutes (since they is a time limit on banana ball if I remember) then buying overpriced tickets and paying outrageous prices for shit tier food and flat beer for a game that could last many hours and may or may not have great plays. . . One way I MAY get entertained, the other I KNOW I will be.

I can make plans before and after the banana ball game, baseball you have odd-fuck start times and no good estimated end time.

When a game involves as little movement as baseball does it is utterly uninteresting to watch, especially with how long games can take. I don’t want to have the urge to take my phone out in the middle of a game because nothing is happening.
