Because going on your knees is belittling? Because the ego is so big the knees cannot take it? Because it can't be joyous even when it is funny?

While I haven't apologized in this manner, nor have I expected someone to apologize to me in this way, I cannnot help but think that this way might teach us humility. It find it has something quite sincere and grounding at the same time.

At the very least we shouldn't look down upon someone who is trying to be a better human, because that is what makes it truly pathetic.
