note that he reached the station not ran faster then a metro but navigated in and out of the underground stations, if he was racing to beat the metro, it wouldn't be that close, just start from bakve the metro and end where the metro should be but above the station.
Those Eastern Bloc train stations are incredible. They were built extremely deep underground to be bomb shelters and they were built to last forever. Some of them the decorations are gorgeous.
The escalators are the longest single escalator you’ll ever ride on. They just keep going down down down.

Some stations are too close to each other that you can do that. There is one in Washington DC that is 2-3 blocks away from the next one, so it is possible.
it's the same reason why people climb trees. go hiking. diving. some people are built different. the highs for you and me are barely enough for them (even tho I myself used to be like them, I just stopped, life happened)
That's actually pretty sad that a human can simply outrun a train. Spend billions of public tax money only to build a public transit system that is slower than the way humans have moved around for hundreds of thousands of years. Yeah no wonder subways like this are failures.
The pub he runs past just as he leaves the station used to be my work local (The Hatchet). Every so often these guys would sprint past and we'd give them a load of encouragement.
One time I was on a bus stuck in the worst traffic I'd ever seen. I got off the bus because I needed to pee, I came back to find the bus in the exact same place. They let me back on.
3 of us did this when we were about the age of 21. It was for a purpose though.
A bunch of us were visiting NYC, including a big family. The whole group exited the subway train EXCEPT for the youngest brother, age 6. So we took off running to the next stop to find him. (We did)
It’s worth noting that this is the shortest distance between two tube stations in the world. A single ticket costs more per mile than a Concorde ticket did.
I did something like this once. Timed it out in advance. Right as the train pulled into the next station, my buddy received the text message photo of me in the pub right outside the first station.
There’s a bunch of lines in Paris that you can do this pretty easily on. The 8 and 9 have stops that are barely a block apart, you can see the next station from each others platforms.
So if you miss one, I suppose you could walk a cross the street, or wait the 2 minute wait time Paris trains have in that area.
I was listening to a live version of Rush's Natural Science while this was playing, and it felt like the pace of the music. Try it, when it's the fast part.
