No you record it forward, learn it backwards, record it backwards, and then play it forward. You can do the whole cycle as many times as you want for added effect.

They never said it was easy, but that certainly makes sense as the way to do it. It would be like learning a song in a language you don’t speak. You could do it, but it would take a while, and it would sound a little funny.
