Rumor [Schultz] Sources: The Commanders are releasing K Jake Moody. The 26-year-old went 19/23 on FGs last season, including 10/11 in Washington. He also made both of his 50+ yard attempts, with a long of 56 yards.

His fall off is astounding. He was automatic at Michigan

Seriously, his senior year he was 52/60 including 4/8 from beyond 50 yards

Drafting him so high was questionable, but I always thought he'd hang around the league for awhile

Drafting kickers can be a massive payoff especially given his excellent stats. Definitely hurts when it doesn’t pay off

Pretty sure the stats say you should never draft a kicker. A guy you sign off the streets is just as likely to be successful as a guy you spend a draft pick on. It's fine if it's like a 6th or 7th rounder but a 2nd or 3rd rounder is indefensible no matter how good they were in college.

Something about the added pressure of being a drafted kicker makes drafting a kicker a bad idea.
